日がえり出張、機窓から /One-day duty trip from a plane window

昨日は、福岡に日帰り出張でした。気の重い仕事でしたが、整備スタッフの姿に励まされ、さあ出発です。

Yesterday, I had an one-day trip to Fukuoka with tough mission, I started the trip encouraged by such attitudes of airport staffs.

慌しい仕事を終え、夕日に追われるように帰途に。東京の夜景が迎えてくれました。週末は少しゆったりとする予定です。

After heavy-duty in Fukuoka, I was on the return way in sun-set view. And beautiful night view welcomed me back.

自転車とバイクのマナーと「だろう運転」/Selfish and irresponsible driving of bicycle and motorbike

先日、近所の交差点で交通事故に巻き込まれました。その時、私の車は、信号のある交差点で前の車に続いて左折をしようとしていました。そして、前の車と私の車の間に割り込むように自転車が突っ込んで来たので、ブレーキを踏み停車しました。

I had trouble with a bicycle and a motorbike in a crossroad near my house recently. At that time, I was turning left following previous car and found a bicycle was running into in front of me, and had to step on the break.

その直後に私の車の右後方でゴンという音がしました。後から来たバイクが私の車に追突したのです。ちょうど下の図のような形です。
Just that time, I heard a sound of “bang” from back, a motorbike hit on right-back side of my car. You can find a picture showing a my accident.

自転車は、横断歩道上なので、当然、私は止まるだろうと思い、突っ込んできたのでしょう。そして車にバイクがぶつかった音を聞き、一瞬こちらを振り返りましたが、関係ないというような顔をして、そのまま走り去りました。

A rider of bicycle should be thinking I must stop on a zebra zone. When he heard a sound of crush,　he glanced back once, but run away looked like he had no responsibility to the accident.

もっとひどいのは、後からぶつかって来たバイクです。私の車が左折するだろうと思い直進したところ、私の車が止まったので、ブレーキが間に合わずにぶつかってしまったのでしょう。そして交差点を渡ったところで、一度止まってこちらを見ていましたが、信号が変わって、こちらが追いかけられないと分かると、そのまま走り去ったのです。いわゆる当て逃げです。

A rider of motorbike was more disgusting! He might be thinking I would run through without stopping, but he hit my car when I stopped. Then he stop once opposite of the crossroad, but he run away when the signal had changed and I could not chase. So, He made a hit and run!

現場に残された私は、仕方なく一人で、近くの交番に事故の説明に行きました。車の修理のために保険を使うとすれば、事故証明が必要になるかと思ったからです。
対応してくれたお巡りさんは、私には過失はないけれど、相手が逃げたので、車の修理に保険を使うとすれば、私の車両保険を使わざるを得ないだろうと言って、事故調書を作ってくれました。

I had to go to a police box for reporting the accident for asking make a accident report necessary to insurance applying. A policeman said I had no responsibility for the accident but I had to use my car insurance for repairing my car since the rider of motorbike had run away.

その後、車屋さんと相談したのですが、車両保険の免責や来年の掛け金のことを考えると、保険を使わずに修理したほうがよいということになり、約４万円の出費となってしまいました。
After consultation with a car shop clerk, I decided not using my insurance considering premiums of next year and deductible. And I had to pay nearly 40 thousand JPY without compensation.

結局、自転車の「車は止まるだろう」と、バイクの「左折するだろう」の２つの「だろう」のお陰で、私は４万円のお金と、交番での手続きや、車屋さんとの相談なので１日以上の貴重な時間を費やすことになりました。

I must be a victim of two different assumptions of two riders; “I should stop” and “ I should go” and I had to spend 40 thousand JPY and almost one day for reporting and negotiation with car shop.

いろいろと腹立たしいことはありますが、私と家族に怪我がなかったこと、それに私が加害者にならなかったことがせめてもの救いと思うことにしました。

今回の事故では、結果としては、私だけが割りを喰った形になりましたが、こうした「だろう」運転をしている自転車やバイクの運転手の方々には、自分の身を危険にさらしていることをよく考えて頂きたいと思います。

I am still angry for the riders who did not take their own responsibilities, but I change my mind I should think I must be lucky that my family and I had no injury and I can escape my risk to become a offender.
But I would like to make caution to all riders who drive with selfish assumption that such assumption might hurt yourselves in someday.

ドバイメトロで移動（ドバイ散策５）/ Moving by Dubai Metro (Dubai report)

今回のドバイレポートでいくつかの見所をご紹介しましたが、ほとんどは半日で駆け足で周った場所です。各観光地間の移動には、ほとんどドバイメトロを活用しました。ドバイの中心部を一部地下と高架部分に分かれて走る、このドバイメトロ、日本の技術を使って無人で走行する近代的な鉄道で、駅や車両もきれいで、観光客にも使いやすい交通手段になっています。

I reported some interesting tourist spots in Dubai, and most of them I visited in a half day of free time. Moving in Dubai, I used a Dubai metro (partly subway and elevated railway in other part). This metro is run by automated system support by Japanese technology and it very useful and clean system for which tourist can use easily.

料金はゾーン制になっていて、ゾーンをまたぐごとに料金が加算されます。チケットは毎回買うこともできますが、複数回乗ることがわかっていれば、パスモのようなプリペイド式のものか１日券を買うほうが便利かもしれません。

Fare of the metro is basically operated as zone system and you need pay additional fare when you get off in other zone. You can buy a ticket on a counter or vending machine each time before entering into the station by checking fare for destination. However it could be convenient to use pre-paid plastic card or one-day free card for tourists who use several times during stay.

プリペイド式のものは、普通席で１枚２５ディルハム（約９００円）で必要に応じ追加チャージして使うことができます。運賃は１区間３ディルハムから３区間７ディルハムまでに分かれています。ただこの２５ディルハムのうち６ディルハムはカード代なので実質は１９ディルハムしか使えません。
１日券は２０ディルハムで１日乗り放題です。滞在が１日だけならこちらのほうが得かもしれません。

Price of a pre-paid card called “Nol card” is UAD 25 (about USD8) but UAD 6 is charge for a card, ( which means you can only use UAD 16 for fares) and you can charge for fee occasionally, fare for 1 zone is UAD 3 and for 3 zones is UAD 7. On the other hand, fare for one-day pass is UAD 20 and you can use any time for all day long.

改札口は、日本と同じように自動改札になっていて、カードを押し付けてゲートを開き出入りします。

車両には、Gold seat　（いわゆる一等車両）と女性専用車がどちらかの端に割り当てられています。Gold seatの料金は普通車両の２倍で、間違って乗ると罰金を取られることがあるそうです。またこのGold seatから普通車両に移動するには女性専用車を通らないと行けないので、特に男性旅行者は気をつける必要があるようです。ホームの乗り口に表示があるので、確認して乗る必要があります。左からGold seat, 女性専用車、そして普通車両のマークです。

It must be careful, since you need go through lady's coach if you want go from gold class to ordinal class. From left to right; gold seat, lay's coarch and ordinal seat.

車内は結構混んでいます。一方、無人運転なので、先頭車両からは、前をよく見ることができます。

I found many passengers in the train, but you can see outside from front view very easily since no drivers in this train.

お台場キャンピングカーフェア/ ODAIBA Camping-car fair

先週末は、お台場でのキャンピングカーフェアへ。実は夏前に、車中泊仕様のミニバンを購入したのですが、実際に車中泊に使ったのはまだ数えるほどしかなくて・・・

I went to a ODAIBA Camping-car fair last weekend. I purchased a mini-van modified for family champing before the summer, however I have slept in my car just a couple days from them.

豪華キャンピングカーから可愛い軽キャンパーまで、細かい工夫やアイデアを見るのは楽しくて、そして会場で車中泊のガイドブックも何冊か買って、

I really enjoyed to see many cars with funny idea or cool devise from luxury van to small camper, and then I bought some guide manuals for sleeping in car, and then..

どこかの温泉地にでも、車で気軽に出かけたくなりましたが、今週、来週は出張で・・・、紅葉は待っててくれるかなあ。

I wish I would go to country side with hot spa for relaxing in week end soon, but I should to go duty travel this weekend to next week end. I hope good season for looking colored leaves tree would not end soon.

A３８０に初めて乗りました。/ This is my first time for boarding Airbus A380.

今まで、バンコク・日本間の飛行機には随分と乗りましたが、日本の航空会社だったり羽田発着を使うことが多かったので、タイ航空が使っているこの世界最大の旅客機A380には乗る機会がありませんでした。

I boarded a lot of flights between Bangkok and Japan in recent years, but I had no chance to board A380, the largest plane in the world, since I usually use flights by Japanese company or via Haneda airport in Tokyo but not Narita.

今回の出張は、連休前で席を取りにくかったこともあり、成田発のTG６４１便を利用してA380に乗ることになりました。この便は、ファースト・ビジネス・エコノミーあわせて５０７席で（全てエコノミーにすれば設計上は最大定員８５３名も可能とか？）、総２階建ての飛行機です。

I could not find a good seat on a flights by Japanese carrier or via Haneda since holiday weeks in Japan called “golden week” has already started, so I booked a seat TG641 from Narita to Bangkok for this duty travel to Bangkok. The A380 has 507 seats combined first, business and economy class on 2 level floor in the plane, it is said maximum number of seats can be set as 853!

近くに行けば、その大きさに圧倒されます。離陸時の加速がゆっくりで、かなり滑走路を走ってからふっと浮き上がるような離陸でした。最近の３００席前後のボーイング７７７やA330の加速に比べるとちょっと物足りない感じもします。

You can fell bigness of the plane when you approach it. When it took off, I felt it could be floating with smooth acceleration after it run long distance on the runway. Comparing the latest middle class plane such as Boeing 777 or A330, acceleration could be moderate and lack of force a little bit.

機外カメラが、垂直尾翼の上についていて、飛行機を斜め後から追いかけているようでちょっと新鮮なアングルでした。特に着陸の時はちょっと面白かったです。

Since outside view camera is set on a vertical fin, the view was very interesting like viewing from upside back, particularly during landing.

この大きな飛行機もほぼ満席のようでした。バンコクと日本を行き来する人がこんなに多いことに少し嬉しくなりました。ただ、大きな飛行で満席になると、荷物の受け取りが少し大変です。運悪く最後のほうに荷物になればかなり待たされることになりそうです。

The flights could be almost full booked and I was delighted to know such many people are traveling between Thai and Japan. However, it could be not so happy for passengers for pick up their baggage at the baggage claim and might be stayed longer time for waiting their baggage.

羽田便に使われれば、また乗る機会もあるかもしれませんが、この機に乗るためだけに成田まで行くほどではないように感じました。

I might use this plane again if it come to Haneda airport but I might have no special reason to get it by going Narita airport.

日本とタイの優先席を考えてみました/ Comparison of courtesy seats in a train in Thai and Japan

日本では１９７０年の前半ころから列車に優先座席（当時はシルバーシートと呼ばれていましたが）が導入され、今ではほとんどの路線であたりまえのようになっています。

Courtesy seats in a train was introduced in early 70's in Japan, which used be called as “silver seats” at the beginning time and now common in Japanese train system.

一方、バンコクの通勤列車には、特別な座席指定はなく、老人や妊婦さんに席を譲りましょうというサインだけが。言ってみれば全車優先座席のようなもの。そのなかで、日本と違っているは、子供（だいたい身長１３０－１４０ｃｍくらいの小学生くらいまでしょうか）にも積極的に席を譲ることになっていることです。

In a commune train in Bangkok, there is no specified area as courtesy seats but a sign on the wall recommend passengers to give seats to elderly, pregrant or handicapped people, which means no specified but all seats should be courtesy seats for them. And remarkable difference to Japanese classification is that small child; maybe less than 130-140 cm heights. is included as respected group for courtesy.

私たち家族もバンコクに暮らし始めた３年ほど前は、子供も１０歳くらいで、よく席をもらいました。最初に席を譲られた時は、言葉もよく解らなかったのですが、笑顔で席を譲ってもらい、びっくりした覚えがあります。若い人は列車が混んでくると、年をとった人や子供に進んで席を譲る人が多く、人前で人を押しのけたり争ったりするのを嫌うタイ人のよい面が現れているようです。

電車の中で我が物顔の子供もいますが/ Sometimes, I saw chirdren occpaying setas in a train.

It was impressive incident for our family when my son was offered a seat first ttime when we started our new life in Bangkok about three yearsp ago and my son was around 10years. Although we were not able to understand Thai language well, we could understand their kindness with their lovely smiles. Younger people looks ready to give their seats to elderly people or children, it could be reflecting their good nature that they do not like to show their fights or offensive attitude in front of other people.

もう一つ、特徴的なのがお坊さん専用の席があること。でもあまりお坊さんがこの席に座っているのは見たことがありません。お坊さんに対する尊敬の念が深いタイでは、こんな特別な席を設けなくても皆が席を譲るのと、そもそも少し料金の高い高架鉄道には質素なお坊さんはあまり乗っていないからかもしれません。

There is another remarkable mark showing “courtesy seat” for monk. However I have seldom seen actually monk seated on allocated this seat. May-be, religious Thai people always give their seat to respected monk, so no need special seats for them or few monk take BTS which fare is relatively higher than bus.

日本でも、最近は優先席を無くして、全席優先席にという動きもあるようです。優先席を設けてもあまり効果がないからなのか、席を譲るというマナーは定着したということなのか、なんとなく前者のような気もします。また、スマホのゲーム等が普及したからか、優先席付近での電源オフもあまり意味がなくなっているような気もします。

I heard some train companies have abolish their allocated “courtesy seats” and all seats should be courtesy for handicapped people by it. I am not sure reason might be designed courtesy area has no expected effect or courtesy moral could become popular, but I am afraid main reason might be first one? Another my worry is that switch-off rule near courtesy seats looks ignored by many passengers partly because many people enjoying video game in their smart phones even on courtesy seats.

タイでは列車内の携帯は禁止ではないので、時々車内で大声で喋っている人もいましたが、慣れてしまえばそれもあまり気になりませんでしたが。

There are no such switch-off rules on mobile phone in Thai, I don't care to see people who are using mobile even talking to other people, in sometime loudly.

カー・シェアリング/ Car sharing

今、我が家には自家用車がないので、レンタカーを愛用しています。スキーに行くときには、オプションでスタッドレスを付けたミニバンとか、少し大きな買い物の時はバンを借りたり、ちょっとした買い物はエコカーで経済的になどと、用途に応じて車種も変えて利用しています。

Since I don't have my own car now, I rent a car when I need. I can choose suitable type of car such as a mini-ban with studless winter tire when I go to skiing, and I select a van when I go shopping for large items and then I use a eco-car for small shopping near my house.

今回は、以前から少し気になっていたカー・シェアリングを使ってみました。PCや携帯を使ってインターネット経由で、空いていれば１５分単位で予約できるという手軽さを試してみました。

However, I try to use a car sharing this time for which I have been attracted recently. This system can offer customers to use a car every 15 minutes booked through internet by PC or mobile.

会員になった時に、係りの人から、利用時間を途中で延長しようとしても次の人が予約を入れていると手続きが面倒になるので、使う予定時間より少し長めに予約したほうが良いですよとのアドバイスもあり、今回は４時間の予約で試してみました。

I was recommended to book a little bit longer period than expected time since a procedure for prolonging reserved time during actual using time would be completed particularly when other customer has already booked next to booked time, so I booked four hours in advance.

ネットで調べてみると、いくつかの車種が利用可能だったので、今まで乗ったことのなかったスズキのソリオで試して見ました。家族３人でホームセンターやスーパーマーケット等で買い物をして、３時間半で返却。予約は４時間でも、利用料は実際使った３時間半で計算され給油も必要もなく、約２，８００円。短時間の利用だとレンタカーより結構割安になるようです。

I found some different type of cars were available when I checked from my PC, I booked a “Sorio” of Suzuki that I have never driven this brand before. I went to a home improvement store and a supermarket for weekend shopping and I returned the car in three hours and half. Although I booked four hours I only need to pay for three hour and half and need not to refuel, and I paid about JPY 2,800. I understand cost for car sharing in short time such as 2-3 hours could be quite cheaper than rent-a-car.

予約時間になって、自分のカードをここにかざすとキーが開きます/ Doors of the car will be unlocked when you put on member card on time.

このカーシェアリング、まだ車種や利用できる場所も限られているようですが、短期間の利用だったらまた使ってみたいと思いました。車内を汚さず、時間を守るといった利用者のマナーが普及のキーのように思いますが、もう少し広まれば、車種のバラエティも増えてもっと使いやすくなる気がします。

It is still limited car type and car stations; car park for a car sharing are not so much, but I would use again in case of short time use. I think popularity of this system depends on manner of users such as keeping car clean or punctual use but if it becomes more popular it shoud be more convenient with wide variety of car type.

窓側の席/ A seat at window side

若い頃は、新幹線や列車の席は必ず窓側を予約していたのですが、いつの頃からか、通路側を選ぶようになっていました。
特に一人旅では、通路への出入りや車内販売のことを考えると、つい景色よりも便利さを優先するようになっていました。

ただ最近の新幹線では、電源コンセントがある窓側を選ぶようになりました。

I used to reserve a seat at window side whenever I booked in a local express train or Supper express train; Shinkanshen when I was young, but I selected aisle side recently although I don't remember since when I changed.
Particularly, during my lonely journey, I prefer to be aisle side considering easy to move or shopping with an attendant although it would not be good view.

But in these days, I return to seat on window side in a super express train since electrical outlet is available on the wall under window. .

折角の窓側なので、時々は外に目を向け景色を楽しむようにしています。

And I try to enjoy scene from the windows sometimes during traveling

飛行機の一人旅の場合は、昼間の２、３時間の短いフライトなら窓際がいいのですが、それを超える時間だと、どうしても通路側を選んでしまいます。ビジネスクラスだと窓際でゆっくりできるのでしょうが・・・

In a plane, I still prefer aisle side except day flight less than 2-3 hours as I don't want to bother people next me in tiny economy class seat.

ビデオモニター付きタクシー/ A taxi with personal video monitor

タクシーに乗り込んだら、運転手さんが微笑みながら何か話しかけてきました。タイ語は良く判らなかったのですが、前の座席を見てビックリ。飛行機のような客用のビデオモニターがついていて何か番組が始まったのです。多分。運転手さんは「ビデオ楽しんでください」とでも言ったのでしょう。

When I got in a taxi recently in Bangkok and was surprised to find a personal video monitor was on backside of a front seat. Then a taxi driver told me something. Although I could not understand well, he might say like “please enjoy video” or something.

番組の内容は、映画の宣伝やいたずらビックリ番組のような他愛のないものだったですが、３０分ほどの乗車中、言葉が判らなくても結構楽しむことができました。とかく態度が良くないとか乗車拒否が多いとかあまり評判の良くないバンコクのタクシーですが、このようにサービス向上に努めている運転者さんもいると知って少し嬉しくなりました。

Contents of programme was easy-to-see like advertisement of movies or kind of a Candid Camera, but I was able to quite enjoy about thirty minutes although I cannot understand Thai language. It is said attitude of taxi drivers in Bangkok is not so good and sometimes they would refuse to go requested place, but I was delighted to know some taxi drivers (but not so much) try to improve their service.

アジア各地の三輪タクシー比較考察（？）/ Many types of three-wheel taxis in Asian countries

アジアの街には、それぞれ特徴的な三輪タクシーが、手軽な市民の足として、また観光客の移動手段として活躍しています。これまでいくつかの街で撮った三輪タクシーの写真を比較してご紹介したいと思います。

You can find many kind of three-wheel taxis with unique shapes in many Asian cities. Such three wheel taxis are casual and useful transportation tool for tourists as well as citizens live in. Please see some pictures I took in some cities in Asian countries.

まずは、なんといってもバンコクのトゥクトゥク（サムロー）。トゥクトゥクとはそのエンジンの音から名づけられたとか。サムローはタイ語で３輪の意味で、このトゥクトゥクを指すこともありますが、どちらかといえば後でご紹介する人力３輪タクシーのことを指すことが多いようです。

So, let's see pictures of Tuk-Tuk or San Lor. Tuk-Tuk is called from its sound of engine and San Lor which means tricycle or three- wheels in Thai language. Now a days, San Lor seems to be mainly used for man- powered tricycle and motor tricycle called Tuk-Tuk.

このトゥクトゥク、メーターはついていなくて、値段は交渉で決めることになっています。値段を事前に決めてから乗らないと、タイ語が通じない観光客等はトラブルになることがあります。実は私もバンコクに２年半以上住んでいますが、この価格交渉が面倒くさいので、このトゥクトゥクには数えるほどしか乗ったことがなく、ほとんどがメーターのついた普通のタクシーを使っています。

You need to negotiate fare with taxi driver since Tuk-Tuk has no taxi meter. If you get on a Tuk-Tuk without pre-negotiation, you might have a trouble later, particularly if you can not speak Thai well. I have been staying in Bangkok more than two and half year, but I have a few opportunity to use a Tuk-Tuk since I don't like to negotiate with driver. I prefer to use a meter-taxi.

大きな荷物や生ものの荷物がある時や、大勢で短い距離を乗る時には便利なようです。

In case you have large and/or wet luggage like vegetable or fish or you are with many people in short distance, Tuk-Tuk could be much useful.

上のような、一般タクシーのトゥクトゥクとは、別に、アパートやコンドミニアム住民専用の少し大型のトゥクトゥクが、日本人も多く暮らすスクンビット地区では多く走っています。　アパートなどの名前がついていて、座席が二列になっているのが特徴です。

You can find another type of Tuk-Tuk which could be a little bit larger than ordinal public Tuk-Tuk and this is only for residence of some apartment or condominium, particularly in Sukhumvit area where many Japanese live in.

バンコクより北に約８０ｋｍの古都アユタヤ遺跡のトゥクトゥクは日本の昔のオート三輪ミゼットのような形で、色もちょっと可愛らしい感じです。主に観光客用のようです。

In old capital Ayutaya about 80km north from Bangkok, you can find more pretty Tuk-Tuk mainly for tourists, which resemble to old Japanese motor tricycle “Mizzetto”

ラオスの首都ビエンチャンで見かけたトゥクトゥク。バンコクのものより少しのどかな感じです。お客さんの座席は横向きになっています。

Tuk-Tuks in Vientiane in Laos, I feel it seems more calm than in Bangkok, seats for guests is along side to drive directon.

カンボジアの首都プノンペンで見かけたトゥクトゥク。バイクが座席を牽引するタイプです。

アンコールワットのものも同じような形でした。　It looks similar to that I saw in Angkor Wat.

ミャンマーのヤンゴン郊外で見たトゥクトゥク。カンボジアと似たような牽引タイプですが、座席はカンボジアのほうが少し優雅かな？

Tuk-Tuk in Myanmar, I saw it suburbs of Yangon. It looks similar that I saw in Cambodia, but I think one in Cambodia could be a little bit elegant than it in Myanmar.

スリランカでThree- Wheelerと呼ばれている３輪タクシー。私が見た中では一番小型で、個人的にも一番好きな形です。最近、タクシーメーターの設置が義務付けられたようです。

Three wheeler in Sri Lanka, I think it is most compact and cute one, and I love it. It is said taxi-meter would be compulsory recently.

フィリピン、マニラでトリシクルと呼ばれている、サイドカータイプの３輪車。自分では乗れませんでしたが、乗ったら結構迫力ありそうな感じです。

I was not able to ride in this type, but it could be exciting if I could get in?

同じ三輪タクシーでも、人力タイプのものもいくつかあ見ることができました。そちらもご紹介します。
まずは、もう一度タイのものを。バンコク都内では、渋滞の原因になると乗り入れが禁止されている人力三輪タクシーのサムロー。バンコク郊外ではまだ見ることができます。

So, let's see man-powered three cycle taxi then. In Bangkok, man powered tricycle, San Lor is restricted in Bangkok since it could cause traffic jam, but you can see San Lor in suburbs in Bangkok.

ベトナムのハノイでは、観光客向けの三輪タクシーが走っています。こちらは前に乗るタイプ。You can see tricycle in Hanoi for tourists, and tourists would be in front of driver.

ミャンマーのものは、サイドカーに前と後ろ向きに二人乗れるタイプです。見た目には優雅な感じですが、運転する人は大変そうです。

Tricycle in Myanmar is also side-car type and two persons can be seated front and back side. It looks elegant but may be driver can be heavy duty.

フィリピンのは人力のものも、やはりサイドカータイプです。

In Philippines, man powered tricycle is also side^car style.

今や世界のどの街に行っても、走っている乗用車は、結構同じような車が走っていますが、三輪タクシーは各地の個性があって見ていても楽しいです。幸い色々なところの写真を撮ることが出来ましたので、今回ちょっと整理して見ました。楽しんで頂ければ幸いです。

Now a days ordinary private cars looks similar in every city or countries, but such tricycle taxis could be very unique and interesting to see for comparing. I hope you can enjoy see many types of tricycles.
