いずれ菖蒲（綾目）（アヤメ）か杜若（カキツバタ）Ayame or Kakitsubata (resemble Iris species)

 今、アヤメとカキツバタが見頃を迎えています。混同されやすい花ですが、アヤメは比較的乾燥したところに育ち、花弁の付け根に網目模様（綾目又は文目）が入るのに対し、カキツバタは池の浅いところなど湿地に育ち花弁の付け根に白(又は淡い黄色）の線が入るのが特徴で見分けられます。昨日散歩に行った石神井公園では池にカキツバタ、少し高台の野草観察園にアヤメがそれぞれ咲いていました。

Three kind of Japanese Iris. Now "blood-red iris: Ayame (Iris sanguinea)" is blooming on dry field and "Rabit-ear iris : Kakitsubata (Iris laevigata)" is on shallow pond bed. Both are resemble but Ayame has net shape patten bottom of petal and  Kakutsubata has clear white (or pale yellow) stripe on petal.

また、間もなく見頃を迎えるハナショウブ（花菖蒲）はノハナショウブ（野花菖蒲）を元に改良されたもので、白、薄黄、赤紫、青、紫など多くの色がありますが、紺色に黄色の線が入る野花菖蒲の特徴を引継ぎ、花びらの付け根に黄色が入ります。因みに菖蒲という字ですが、アヤメと読んだりショウブと読んだりすることが、さらに混乱を招いているようですね。

Other popular Iris, "Iris ensata (Hanasyoubu)" is blooming soon on wet place like beach of pond, may be full blooming in a couple weeks. These cultivars have wide variety of flower color such as white, pale yellow, red purple, violet and blue, but wild ones has blue flower with yellow stripe and cultivars also have yellow color on bottom of petal, too. These three species are sometimes confused by their similarness but with characterics above it is easy to identify.
