ハノイに行ってきました/ I visited Hanoi last week

先週ハノイに行ってきました。東京も暑かったですが、ハノイも暑かったです。仕事の合間にホテル近くのトンナート公園を少し散歩しましたが、汗が噴き出ました。花はあまり多くなかったですが熱帯を代表するいくつかの花が見られました。暑い季節に似合う花たちです。

I am now staying in Hanoi for making a lecture at Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Hanoi is hot as well as Tokyo, but maybe Tokyo is hotter than Hanoi on Today.
I just took a stroll in a Thong Nhat park, and I was soaked by sweat. Blooming flowers were all typical tropical flowers.

ベトナム人の友人とシーフードの店で昼食に食べた、タイのトムヤンスープ風のスープに米粉麺、具はシーフードがいっぱいで美味しかったです。タイとベトナムの微妙なコラボレーション。

I visited a sea-food restaurant with Vietnamese friends for taking a lunch. This is tom yum taste soup with rice noodle and many fried sea food. It is wonderful combination of Thai and Vietnamese cuisine.

草津温泉も暑かったですが/ It was also hot in Kusatsu hot spa, but

東京は異常に暑い日々が続いています。涼を求め、草津温泉に行ってきました。
草津温泉もかなり暑かったですが、東京に比べるとやはりかなり涼しく、そしてなんといっても可憐な高山植物の花たちと、温泉でリラックスできました。
Tokyo is suffering from continuing intense heat in these days and I tried to escape it by visiting to Kusatsu spa. It was also hot in the Kusatsu, but I was relieved by pretty flowers in highlands and relaxed by hot spa.

ウェブサイトの花の種類が1000を超えました/ Numbers of Species uploaded in my otehr website reaches 1000

以前から、このブログを読んでいただいている方は、お気づきの方もいらっしゃるかと思いますが、最近は記事の更新が遅くなり、そして記事も花に関するものが多くなっています。
Some readers may noticed that interval of my post becomes longer recently and many contents tends to relating to flowers or botanical gardens.

5年ほど前に、バンコク在住中に始めたこのブログですが、当初はバンコクで見るもの聞くものすべてが珍しく、種々雑多な話題で記事を書いていました。そのなかで、植物や花にはもともと興味があったので、常夏のバンコクの庭や公園で見かける珍しい花や木についてもいくつかの記事を書きました。その頃、花の名前や情報がなかなか見つからず、苦労した思い出があります。そのため、集めた花の写真や名前などデータを別のホームページにまとめてきました。日本に戻ってからも、日本の四季折々に咲く花の美しさに惹かれ撮った写真も増え、ホームページにアップした花の種類が最近、ようやく１０００種類を超えました。
I started this blog more than 5 years ago when I lived in Bangkok, and the beginning, my post covered many topics since everything in Bangkok I saw and touched was fresh and interesting for me. Among them I touched on many topics on flowers and plants in Thailand since I was interested in plants before living in Bangkok. At that time it was sometimes hard to find data of newly found flowers and so on. Then I built an another website for classifying pictures and data that I collected. After I backed to Tokyo, I also took many pictures of flowers blooming in four seasons in Japan and uploaded in the website. Recently species classified and uploaded in the web becomes more than 1000.

片手間に整理してきたものなので、図鑑というには、おこがましいのですが、タイの花や、日本の四季折々の花、そして出張などで訪れたところで撮った写真を、地域や植物の形態別や花の色別に整理してみました。バンコクでタイ語のデータしか見つからず苦労したこともあったので、英語と日本語で検索できるようもしました。日本を訪れた外国の人にも日本の花の美しさを知って頂くのに少しでもお役に立てればと思っています。
I uploaded pictures of flowers taken in Thailand, Japan and other countries I visited, and classified into categories by region or morphological characters in both English and Japanese. Since I was little bit to struggle to find plant data in Thai, I put the data in English and Japanese, as I considered it could be helpful for foreign visitors to find data of beautiful flowers in japan.

幸い、最近は英語での問い合わせや、海外からのアクセスも増えてきて、ちょっと嬉しい思いをしています。もしお時間がありましたら、少しホームページを見て頂いて、改善点のアドバイスや感想などをいただければ嬉しいです。

百日紅が綺麗になってきました/ It will be the best time for crape myrtle

今年は梅雨が早く終わった後、西日本を中心に豪雨になってしまいました。豪雨で被害を受けられた方には、お悔やみ申し上げるとともに、一日も早い回復をお祈りします。そしていよいよ夏の本番の暑さの中、ピンクの百日紅（さるすべり）が綺麗に咲いています。この花には、やはり蝉の鳴き声が似合います。

After early finish of rainy season, however unexpected long and heavy rain devastated westside of Japan. I would like to convey my condolence to suffered people and hope quick recovery as early as possible. And I can feel air of high summer by watching pink flowers of crape myrtle with song of cicadas.
