光る花 ねこやなぎ Silver shining Rose-gold pussy willow

まだまだ寒い日が続きますが、水辺では、東京では珍しい雪どけの光を浴びて、猫柳が銀色に光っています。
In Tokyo, still shivering cold days, but rose-gold pussy willow in front of snow melting flow is shining with silver color.

シナマンサクが咲き始めました/ Chinese witch hazel starts blooming.

マンサクの仲間のシナマンサクが日比谷公園でも咲き始めました。黄色い花は見逃しがちですが、よく見ると奇妙な形をしています。

Hamamelis mollis/ Chinese witch hazel/ シナマンサク

Chinese witch hazel, it belongs to Japanese witch hazel, which can be a little bit earlier than Japanese one. Since the flower is not so big and hard to find, but the shape is unique like skeleton.
マンサクに比べて花の香りが強く、枯葉が冬の間は落ちずに枝に残っているのが特徴です。
Comparing Japanese witch hazel, it has leaves in even in winter time and a little bit stronger smell.

寒中梅/ Japanese Apricot flower in cold winter

東京は月曜の大雪の後も寒い日が続き、まだ雪も残っています。それでも通勤途中の梅の木は、寒空のもとピンクの花をけなげに咲かせています。
In Tokyo, cold days are continuing after heavy snow in this Monday, and still remaining many snow. However, pink Japanese apricot flowers shivering in cold wind give me a brave.

大雪から一夜明け/ After heavy snow in Tokyo

大雪から一夜明け、東京は良い天気ですが、かなり雪が残っていました。
春に向け爽やかな香りを漂わせていた蝋梅も突然の雪で、震えているようです。

After heavy snow last night, today in Tokyo is good whether but remaining many snow.
Yellow winter sweets or Japanese allspice which blooms with sweet fragrance waiting spring, however is shivering today.

アイスホッケー観戦/ Ice hockey games in Tokyo

平昌がいよいよ近づいてきました。男子アイスホッケーチームは、残念ながら、オリンピックには出られませんが、選手たちはアジアリーグで熱い戦いを続けています。この週末は東京で日本の４チームの戦いが見られるというので見てきました。

Regrettably, man's Japanese Ice hockey team cannot play in the winter Olympic Games in Pyongyang, but players are doing exciting play in an Asian hockey league. I went to a higashi-fushimi Dydo-drinco ice arena for watching 4 Japanese teams in there.

アイスホッケーの試合を生で見るのは、初めてでしたが、結構興奮しました。次回のオリンピックには日本チーム、ぜひ出て欲しいです。

This is the first time to watch hockey game in a arena, but I was very exciting. I hope Japanese team can join to the next winter Olympic Games.

Gentle pink flower of quince/ 柔らかなピンクの木瓜の花

Flowering in a low hedge, it is not so eye-catching but pink pretty flower makes me gentle feeling.
生垣のなか、低木で目立ちませんが、柔らかなピンクの花に心が和みます。

Flower of loquat / 枇杷の花

初夏にオレンジ色の果実を付けるビワ。花は寒い冬に咲かせます。柔かい光の中、厚い緑の葉に守られるように白い花が咲いています。
Loquat, popular fruit in early summer, but a white flower is blooming in such cold winter in gentle light, guarded by thick green leaves.

この時期、花粉を運ぶ虫も少ないので、蜜を食べに来た鳥も授粉を助けるようです。
Since insects are few in this cold season, birds which comes to taste nector can also help pollination.

Far East Amur adonisフクジュソウ

春を告げる花です。
雪国では雪解けの下から花を咲かせる姿が印象的ですが、東京でも枯葉や霜柱の中から黄色い黄色い花がのぞかせると心が躍ります。

A flower which tells us spring is coming.
In snowfall area, it is impressive a yellow small flower comes from under the white snow. In Tokyo I am excited to watch it from fallen leaves or frost colums.

井の頭池、かいぼり中 Drained Inokashira pond

井の頭池のかいぼりが行われていて、水を抜いた池の生き物調査が行われています。一度池を干上がらせ掃除した後、在来種だけを池に戻すことにより、水質の改善と生態系の再生を図っていくそうです。

Inokashira pond is now drained and nature investigation is operated. After dried and cleared the bed of the pond, only native species will be released for improving environment and rebirth of native ecosytem.

こうした活動に参加されている方々のおかげで随分、綺麗になってきたそうです。
I would appreciate all people participating such voluntary activities.

凍てつく噴水/ Frozen fountain in Hibiya park

寒い日が続く、日本列島です。大雪が続く北日本と違って東京では雪は降っていませんが、それでも朝は氷点下の日々が続いています。
Now Japan is in the coldest season. Tokyo is no snow different from northern Japan, but is in very cold days, and bellow zero in morning.

日比谷公園で凍った噴水の写真を撮っていたら、NHKのインタビューを受けてしまいました。もしかしてローカルニュースで流れるかも？　と思いましたが、放映はされなかったようです。When I took shots of frozen fountain in Hibiya park this morning, I was interviewed by Japanese broadcasting station NHK. I expected it might be on-aired in local news but seemed no casted.

わずかに香る蝋梅の花/ Gentle sweet fragrance from Japanese allspice

Yellow winter sweet, petals of Japanese allspice is now just open. I can feel faint sweet fragrance in gentle winter light.
蝋梅の花びらが開きはじめました。冬の弱い光の中で透き通るような花から少しだけさわやかな香りがしました。

Silver buds of oriental paperbush/ 銀色の三椏の蕾

銀色に輝く三椏（ミツマタ）の蕾が、文字通り３本に分かれした枝の先で揺れています。
昔は和紙を作るのに植えられた三椏も、最近は花を楽しむために植えられることも多いようです。まもなく白やオレンジ色の花が開くでしょう。

Silver buds of Mitumata, literally trident or three pronged branch in Japanese, or Oriental Paperbush are shivering on top of each branch. The plant used be cultivated for producing Japanese paper but now a days planted for watching flowers in gardens. White or orange flowers will be opened soon.

水辺のレンギョウの花/ Flower of Golden-bell in front of water of pond

冬枯れの石神井公園の三宝寺池のほとりで黄色い花を咲かせる連翹（レンギョウ）、その優しい黄色に少しだけ心が和みます。

Yellow small flowers of Golden-bell in front of Sanpouji pond in Syakujii park in dark cold winter scene. I can fell warm felling by watching yellow small flowers.

七草粥/ Nanakusagayu, Seven herb rice porridge

今日は７日、七草粥を頂きました。
お正月のご馳走で疲れた胃袋を癒し、野菜不足になりがちなこの季節、新鮮なビタミンと栄養を、優しいお粥で頂くのは先人の知恵ですね。
At breakfast of 7th of January, I eat Nanakusagayu, Seven herb rice porridge. It is a Japanese custom with ancestors' wisdom for resting our stomach which can be tired from the feasting and drinking of New-year's holidays and replenishing nutrient and vitamin by young herbs in cold winter.

春の七草、せり、なずな、ごぎょう、はこべら、ほとけのざ、すずな（蕪）、すずしろ（大根）。
Seven herbs or vegetables are seri (water dropwort), nazua (shepherd's purse), gogyo(cudweed), hakobera(chickweed), hotokenoza(henbit), suzuna (turnip) and suzusiro (daikon radich).

春はまだ遠いですが。体は少し温まりました。今年は７日が日曜でゆっくりと七草粥をいただけました。
Spring is not coming soon but my heart and body is a little bit warmed. Thanks to Sunday morning, I can enjoy the Nanakusagayu in relax mood.

房総で富士山を見ながらお寿司をいただきました。Fresh tasty Sushi in Boso with good Mt. Fuji view

正月３日は穏やかな天気に誘われ房総へ。東京湾越しの富士山を見ながら新鮮なお寿司を頂いて来ました。

I visited Boso peninsula on 3 January during New year holidays since it was a fine day. I enjoyed fresh fish Sushi with good view of Mt. Fuji over Tokyo bay.

初詣/ New Year's visit to a shrine and temple

今年の初詣は元旦に近所の氏神様にお参りして、２日は吉祥寺の井の頭弁才天へ。
My new year's visit to sacred place, visit to my Patron god shrine neighborhood on January 1st and Inokashira pond Benzaiten, Saraswati, goddess of music and art near Kichijyouji.

典型的な神仏習合ですが、今年一年の安全と幸せを祈願してきました。
This could be a typical syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism, however I sincerely pray for peace and happiness of this year.
