プレミアムフライデー ちょっとだけ ”Premium Friday” short break

昨日は5月の最終金曜日でプレミアムフライデー。金曜の夕方は仕事を早めに切り上げて、有意義な時間をということで、2月から始まったプレミアムフラーデーですが、これまでは会議が入ったりで実行できなかったのですが、昨日は、少しだけ楽しんでみました。
Last evening I enjoyed “Premium Friday; Last Friday in each month” this first time to enjoy since this event promoted by the Government from this February. I finished my job at three o'clock and got out from my office.

3時に職場を出て、まずは、新宿御苑へ。天気があまりよくなかったので、まずは温室内を散策。エキゾチックな花を見て少しリラックスしようと思ったら、もう温室の閉館時間になってしまいました。
I visited a Shinjyu-gyoen garden first and went into a greenhouse as the whether was not so good.
I just could stay in the greenhouse about half hour since it was closed 4 o'clock.

そして、雨上がりの園内を少しだけ森林浴。雨にぬれたハコネウツギが綺麗でした。
平日の夕方、園内を散策する人もまばらで、ほとんどが外国人観光客でした。

I strolled in a woods enjoy walking and found beauty Japanese weigela full blooming in rain.
I met a few people enjoying in the garden and almost visitors were foreign tourists.

そして、家に帰って、家族と早めの夕食。
近くのお店の、プレミアムフライデーのサービス！
スタートが早かったせいで、たっぷりとビールをいただいたので、結局、お勘定は、いつもよりも大目でしたが・・・

And then after I came back to my house my family and I enjoyed sea food diner with special promotion in premium Friday; just 100 JPY for a cup of starting beverage. I enjoyed dinner for longer time than usual and druink much more, so as a result pay much more, but not so bad for happy dinner!

牧野記念庭園 Makino memorial garden

少しアップが遅くなりましたが、連休の最後に、練馬の大泉にある牧野記念庭園に行ってきました。ここは、日本の植物学の父と呼ばれる牧野富太郎博士の晩年の住まいであった場所を記念庭園として整備されているところです。

Sorry, but my upload is a little bit delayed, I visited Makino memorial garden in the last long weekend. Dr. Tomitaro Makino is very famous botanist and called “a Father of Japanese botany” and garden is constructed on the place Dr. Makino's residence in his latter years.

展示館には、牧野博士のスケッチや書斎が再現され興味深い展示がいっぱいです。あちこちに牧野博士の写真もありますが、ハンサムな方ですが、表情も豊かな方だったようです。

In a exhibition room, many interesting matters are presented such as his sketches or library. Observing from his pictures, looks very handsome guy, and very rich expressive face.

なんといっても、このスケッチの緻密さには驚かされます。

I was astonished at precise sketches.

庭は、個人の庭であったところなので、広くはないですが、日本の固有種である植物を中心に落ち着いた雰囲気です。

The garden is not so large since used be as his private garden, however planted mainly native species with calm and pleasant atmosphere.

ちょうど、色々なエビネランが咲いていました。
I found many colors of Calanthe orchid flowers.

日本のスズランやキンポウゲも咲いていました。
This “lily of the volley” is native variety of Japan “Convallaria majalis var. keiskei”.
Native Japanese ranunculus “Ranunculus japonicus or Japanese butter cup” is smaller and simpler than Europian ranunculus.

ニワゼキショウは日本固有種かと思いましたが、アメリカのテキサスの原産でした。
I was thinking a “blue-eyed-grass” was also native but it was from Texas USA.

日本人として初めて植物学的に新種として分類し命名したヤマトグサや奥さんに感謝してその名を献名したスエコザサもこっそりと咲いていました。
The plants planted such as Theligonum japonica or Japanese bamboo Suekozasa are not so attractive but important not only for his achievement but also for Japanese botanical world.

Sasaella ramosa var. suwekoana/Japanese bamboo Suekozasa/ スエコザサ

昭和天皇の「雑草という名の草はない」というお言葉は、牧野博士の言葉からきていると言われています。
The famous word by Emperor Showa Hirohito "There was no such word as weed. Every plant had its name." was told that its coming from words of Dr. Makino.

学生時代に高くて手が出なかった牧野植物図鑑、また欲しくなりました。
The famous encyclopedia “Makino's Illustrated Flora of Japan” I could not afford when I was student since too expensive. It is still expensive but I wish I can buy now.

さわやかな神代植物園 初夏の香り Refreshing breeze in Jindai botanical garden

連休後半は、近くの神代植物園を散策しました。
I enjoyed exploring in Jindai botanical garden, suburb in Tokyo, for the later period of spring long weekend.

Rosa Spp. バラ　（Var. Fanfare　品種　ファンファーレ）

バラも少し咲き始めましたが、バラ園全体としては見ごろにはまだもう少しです。春のバラフェスタは５月９日から開催のようですが、いまから開花が進むのでしょう。

I found some roses has already started blooming but need to wait a week for good-time-to-see whole rose garden. It is said that “spring rose festival” will be held during 9-31 May, it can be blooming soon.

初夏の香りの園内には白い花が目立ちました。
On the other hand, I found many “white” flowers were blooming in the garden.

ハンカチノキは本当にハンカチがぶら下がっているようです。

Davidia involucrata/ Dove-tree/ ハンカチノキ

Dove tree, or called “handkerchief tree” was looked like a hanged white handkerchief.

ガクウツギの白い苞も林の中でけっこう目立っていました。

White bract of “Hydrangea scandens” was also eye-catching.

ハクウンボクやオオデマリはちょうど見ごろでした。

It was best time for watching a fragrant snowball and a Japanese snowball.

足元には、白いタツナミソウが群れて咲いています。

On the ground, group of small white Japanese skullcap was enjoying their best time.

十二単（ジュウニヒトエ）、優雅な名前ですね。

Ajuga nipponensis/ Bugleweed/ ジュウニヒトエ

Bugleweed, Japanese name “Jyunihitoe” that meaning twelve-layered ceremonial kimono worn by noble lady in ancient time has elegant name.

スズラン（ドイツスズラン）も華麗な花を咲かせていました。

Convallaria majalis (var. majalis)/ Lily of the Valley/ ドイツスズラン

Small flowers of “lily of the valley” is so cute in the woods.

藤色のカーテン Violet curtain of wisteria

花のシリーズが続きますが、今回は藤です。GWに入って花の名所も賑わっていますが、あしかがフラワーパークの人気もすごいです。

This time I will show Japanese wisteria in a spring flower series. In Japanese spring holidays, many visitors are enjoying flower parks or gardens, and Ashikaga flower park is one of the most poplar places.

連休の谷間の5月2日に行きましたが、この賑わいようです。この公園は2014年の米国CNNの世界の夢の旅行先トップ１０にも選ばれており、多くの外国人観光客の訪れていました。

I visited here on 2nd of May, it was not national holiday but still very crowded. Since the park was selected as one of the top 10 “Dream destinations for 2014” by CNN, many foreign visitors were also seen.

様々な色や形の藤がありますが、特に６００畳の大藤は迫力があります。

I was able to enjoy many colors and type of wisteria, particularly I was surprised by the old and enormous trees covering more than thousand square meters.

珍しい八重の藤もありました。

It is very interesting to see double petals variety.

白藤のトンネルの見ごろはもう少し先のようです。

It could be few days earlier than best tome for a tunnel of white flowers. 　

藤のスクリーンも見事です。

It was wonderful to see a purple screen of wisteria.

樹上の蓮華 / Lotus on a tree

井の頭公園を散策していると、大きな葉の木の上に白い花が咲いているのに気がつきました。

I found a pure white flower is blooming on a tree during enjoy walking in Inokashira park last weekend.

蓮の花に似た白い花の名前は、受咲大山蓮華（ウケザキオオヤマレンゲ）というそうです。まさしく上向きに咲く蓮華の木という名前のとおりです。

This plant is bred by crossing two magnolia species and one is Japanese bigleaf magnolia.

この木は、大きな葉で有名な、朴の木（ホウノキ）と大山蓮華との交雑でできた木だそうで、19世紀末のパリ博の日本館にも植えられたことがあるそうです。
This plat was exhibited in the Paris exposition in 1889 at the Japanese Court stand.

そして、この木の近くには、その親となった 朴の木も大きな花を咲かせていました。この二種類のの花、結構派手な花ですが、木の上に花を咲かせるので、あまり気づく人もいないようです。

And near this tree, a flower of the Japanese bigleaf magnolia was also blooming. These flowers are relatively big flowers but not so distinguished by walkers in the park since they were blooming on the trees.
