冬の向島百花園の小鳥たち Winter birds in Mukoujima Japanese botanic garden

前の記事に引き続き向島百花園の景色です。前回は花の写真が中心でしたが、今回は鳥の写真です。

This is also report from Mukoujima Japanese botanic garden in winter. This time is mainly bird pictures since last one was mainly of flowers.

冬は花が少ない分、鳥を見るには良い機会です。
Unfortunately we cannot find many flowers in winter, but good opportunity to find small bird on a tree.

翡翠（カワセミ）のこの色はやはり綺麗で印象的です。比較的近くで見られるので、私のカメラでもなんとか姿を納めることができました。

Common kingfisher has very impressive jade color and I can take some shots in short distance.

そして、きれいな黄緑色のメジロは、愛嬌のある顔が特徴的です。

Pretty yellow green color of Japanese white-eye has charming face and very cheerful.

ヒヨドリは地味な上に気性が荒く、他の小鳥を追い払うため、鳥の写真家にはあまり好まれていないようです。
Brown-eared bulbul is not so loved by bird water by its dark color and aggressive nature to other birds.

冬の向島百花園 Mukoujima Japanese botanic garden in winter

先週の週末は穏やかな天気だったので、向島百花園を散歩してきました。

I visited a Mukoujima Japanese botanic garden last calm weekend.

Prunus mume/Japanese apricot/ ウメ

早咲きの梅はもう満開に近いです。紅白の梅の花が目出度い感じです。

Early varieties of Japanese apricot has already near full blooming. And red and white flowers made me happy.

藁のこもを被った淡い桃色の寒牡丹が綺麗です。

Pale pink petals of winter Chinese tree peony guarded by rice straw cover was shinning in gentle winter sun light.

そして蝋梅の一種、素心蝋梅もきれいな花を並べていました。

One of cultivated variety of winter sweet; Soshin-robai has beautiful flower row on its branch.

猫柳の一種の振袖柳も、赤い蕾から柔らかそうな芽を出し始めています。

Buds of red pussy willow with soft fuzz was just ready to open.

以前、赤い実をご紹介したヤブコウジ（十両）の花がひっそり咲いています。ミツマタの花も咲きそうです。

The flower of Ardisia japonica was blooming with hesitation under their leaves, and flowers of oriental paperbush will be coming out soon.

そして満開の梅の花を、メジロが元気に飛び回っています。
百花園で出会った小鳥たちは次回にご紹介します。

I found many pretty birds like Japanese white-eye were playing in the woods, but I will report soon in the next report.

寒咲き菖蒲と霜柱/ Algerian iris and frost columns

東京も寒い日が続いていますが、通勤途中の道端でふと見かけた菖蒲のような花。花菖蒲の仲間で一番先に咲くのはイチハツだと思っていたのですが、冬の最中に咲くこの寒咲きアヤメのほうが先に咲くようですね。

Iris unguicularis/ Algerian iris/ カンザキアヤメ

In Tokyo area, we have very cold days recently but I find a small flowers of iris family on my way to office along the roadside. I was thinking the earliest flower in spring could be a Roof Iris (Iris tectorum) but this flower named Algerian Iris (Iris unguicularis) must be earlier than the Roof Iris.

周りには、霜柱がまだ残っていましたが、冬の柔らかな光を浴びて、ひっそりと咲いていました。小さな花ですが、少しだけ気持ちがほっこりとしました。

Although around the flower frost columns were still remaining, the flower was shining in mild winter sunlight and I was a little but brightened by this little flower.

二子玉川のどんど焼き/ Dondoyaki, fire festival in Hutako-tamagawa

二子玉川の川原で小正月に行われる、どんど焼きに行き、正月飾りや古いお札を焚き上げてもらってきました。10時過ぎに川原に行くと、１５ｍもあるやぐらが組み立てられ、大勢の人が集まっていました。

I joined a Dondoyaki, religious fire festival, held on a river front of Tamagawa river near Futako-Tamagawa. The festival is held on a new-year day of lunar calendar for burning used new-year ornamental or old amulets with appreciation of these things. When I arrived at there around 10 a.m., there were many people had already gathered around a 15m height firing tower.

どんどの前には神棚も設けられ、たくさんの人が、正月飾りなどをどんどの中に入れたり、周りにつけて焚き上げの準備をしています。いくつかの儀式があり、お神酒を撒いていよいよ火が点けられます。

In front of the tower, a Shinto altar was set for festival. And many people come to put their old ornamental or amulets in or on the tower and waiting for the festival.

After Sake, Japanese rice wine was poured to the tower, fire was put in the tower.

点けられた火は、正月飾りや萱を一気に焚き上げます。
Fire was instantly burning grass tower with ornamental or others.

そして、消防団の人々のお陰で、今年も無事におわりました。今年1年良い年でありますように。
Thanks to the firemen, the ceremony was finished without any accident. I wish this year would be happy and good for all.

寒い週末は温室で/ Visiting a greenhouse for a cold weekend

この週末は東京地方も寒かったので、庭園巡りはやめて、夢の島にある熱帯植物園で花を観賞してきました。冬になると、どうしても温室に行く回数が増えますね。
Since it was very cold last weekend in Tokyo, I visited a greenhouse of tropical botanical garden in Yumenoshima in Tokyo, instead of visiting outside garden. Visiting greenhouse in winter is much often than in summer time for my case.

温室に入ると旅人の木が手を広げて迎えてくれているようです。
In the greenhouse, traveler’s tree was welcomed me by widen his leaves.

外が寒いと、つい、赤色系の花でほっこりとしたくなります。
I was relived by red or pink flowers inside of the greenhouse.

イベントホールでは珍しい黄色の椿が展示してありました。
I found a unique yellow camellia was displayed in the greenhouse.

温室の外に出てみると、ギョリュウバイやエリカが頑張って咲いていました。寒空の下、けなげに咲く姿に少し元気を貰いました。
When I walked around outside of the greenhouse, however some flowers like Manuka or Elika were blooming under the cold winter sky.

そして近くでは、菜の花も咲いていました。冬来れば春遠からじというところでしょうか。でも、また寒い日が来れば温室にほっこりしたくなりそうです。
And yellow rapeseed blossom was also blooming like waiting spring time.

冬枯れの中にも春の気配 日比谷公園/ Faint spring air in winter scene, Hibiya park

仕事始めの日の昼休みは天気も良かったので日比谷公園を散策しました。
枯れた木々の林は少し寂しいですが、その分、野鳥たちの姿を見つけやすいようです。
今年は酉年ということで、まずは鳥の写真から。メジロも見つけたのですが良い写真が取れなくて残念です。
Lunch time on the first day of job in this year, I walked around in a Hibiya park in a good weather.
In a winter woods, few flowers can be found but many birds can be found easily, instead.

冬枯れの中でも、もう蝋梅や木瓜の花は咲いています。
I found flowers of Japanese allspice and flowering quince, typical early spring flowers.

今年は梅の開花も早いように感じます。
And I think blooming time of Japanese apricot can be earlier than ordinary year.

初詣と綺麗な夕空/ My first shrine visit of the New Year and beautiful sunset sky.

みなさん明けましておめでとうございます。お正月をいかがお過ごしでしょうか？
A Happy New Year! DO you have happy holidays of new year?

今年は家族の受験もあり、元旦は湯島天神に初詣しました。
お参りできるまで、待つこと約2時間。これだけ並んでお願いしたので、きっとご利益があると信じたいですね。

This year my family's destination of the first shrine visit of the New Year was the Yushima Tenjin; the Guardian God of learning, since a member of my family has to have an entrance examination of school. As we had to wait around two hours before praying, I believe we will have grace of the God certainty.

そして2日は明治神宮に行ってきました。2日の午後だったので、昨日の湯島天神ほどは混んでいなく、本殿前で少し待ちましたが、比較ゆっくりお参りをしてきました。

天気もよくて清清しい気持ちになれました。

Today I also visited Meiji shrine for the New Year visit. Today was not so crowded since it was not 1st of January. I was refreshed with fresh air and fine weather.

そして、帰宅した夕方の空では、美しい夕焼けと、三日月と金星の姿が楽しめました。
And then, When I returned to my home, I was very lucky to watch beautiful sun set, and then Venus and Crescent Moon.
