静かな秋 旧芝離宮庭園/ Quiet autumn day in Kyu-shiba-rikyu-garden; former detached imperial garden

晩秋の庭園めぐり、今回は浜松町の旧芝離宮庭園を訪ねてきました。　
I visited a Kyu-shiba-rikyu-garden; former detached imperial garden in a holiday afternoon of calm autumn.

庭の中の池には鴨がゆったりと羽を休めています。ホシハジロという種類の白い鴨のようです。
Many waterfowls were resting on a pond, white bird can be a common pochard, I suppose.

午後の少し遅い時間だったからか、訪れる人も少なくゆっくりと、園内散歩を楽しみました。
Since I visited in late afternoon and few people in the garden, I was able to enjoy rambling freely and stress free.

池の横の小高い山から庭を見渡せます。
From top of a hill near the pond, whole garden in autumn collar can be seen.

赤く紅葉している、木々の色も少しずつ違っています。代表的な楓の紅葉。
colors of red leaves can be seen slightly different, typical red is maple tree.

Acer/Maple/カエデ

櫨の葉は少し褪せていました。
Leaves of Japanese wax tree with berries were a little bit faded.

Toxicodendron succedaneum/Japanese wax tree/ハゼノキ

錦木の深紅の葉が目を引きます。
I was attracted by scarlet color of winged spindle.

Euonymus alatus/Winged spindle/ニシキギ

庭の一角では十月桜が可憐な花をつけていました。
Pretty blossoms of autumn cherry, it blooms twice a year.

Cerasus subhirtella （Miq.） S.Y. Sokolov/October sakura/ジュウガツザクラ

庭師の方々が松に雪吊りを行っていました。こういう方々で美しい庭が保たれています。のんびりとした午後を過ごすことが出来ました。
I found gardeners were preparing winter by hanging branches of pine tree. I really relaxed in the garden.

房総 保田漁協直営のばんやで朝食/ Breakfast at Banya, fisherman's restaurant in Boso peninsula

勤労感謝の日の祝日は、久しぶりに美味しい魚を食べたくて房総半島にある、漁協直営の店ばんやに行ってきました。

For enjoying a breakfast of Labor Thanksgiving Day, my family visited a Banya, fisherman's restaurant in Boso peninsula, as we love to eat fresh seafood.

人気の店なので、少々早起きをして東京を７時ころに出発、東京湾アクアラインを通ってお店には８時半ころに到着。少し時間があったので、漁港の中を少し散策。裏山の紅葉には少し早かったですが、水鳥を見たり、漁港のセリを見たり時間をつぶして、９時半の開店を待ちます。

I left my house in Tokyo 7 am and arrived there around 8:30 through Tokyo bay aqua-line highway. I spent a time around one hour for watching autumn leaves backdrop hills, watching seagull and

そして、海鮮丼、刺身定食や黄金ふぐの天ぷら、シロメバルの煮付けなどを堪能してきました。これだけのご馳走だとビールが欲しくなるのですが、家族の許可がもらえず、そこは我慢でした（せっかくの勤労感謝の日なんですが）。

My family and I were satisfied with taste of seafood bowl, sashimi, sushi, and deep-fried or boiled fresh fish. To tell the truth, I missed draft beer, but my family did not permit me for drinking. I was expecting special permission for thanksgiving day!

数年前からアクアラインが値下がりしたので、こうして気軽に朝食を食べにいけるのが有難いですね。

Fee of the aqua-line way was too expensive before discounted several years ago, but now we can easily to access to the peninsula for enjoying tasty meal.

紅葉 清澄庭園 / Autumn leaves in Kiyosumi garden

今日は良い天気だったので、東京の江東区にある清澄庭園で紅葉を楽しんできました。
I visited a Kiyosumi garden in Tokyo for watching autumn leaves in Japanese garden.

池の中島の櫨の木がちょうど見ごろで、池のどこから見ても水面に赤色が映えて綺麗です。
Red color of a Japanese wax tree on a small island is very impressive and I can enjoy to see both colors of actual and on water.

銀杏の黄色や松の緑とのコントラストが素敵です。もみじはもう少しするともっと真っ赤になるでしょうか？

Contrast of yellow of ginkgo and green of pine tree is very beautiful. Maple can be more blight in a few weeks?

比較的、海や川が近いので、多くの水鳥が来て羽を休めていした。

The garden is not far from sea and river, many waterfowls are resting on the water and roof top.

ちょうど、お茶会か何かあったらしくて和服の人が多くて素敵な写真が撮れました。

When I visited there, many Japanese ladies wearing traditional kimono, may-be a tea ceremony party was held. So I was very lucky to take good photos with colorful backdrops.

秋色 日比谷公園 Hibiya park, Autumn color

日比谷公園の紅葉がちょうど見頃です。池に映える紅葉を見ていると都心にいるのを忘れそうです。

Autumn leaves in a Hibiya park is now amazing beautiful. You may forget staying in the heart of Tokyo while watching colors on a pond.

日比谷公園では菊花展も開かれていて、秋の雰囲気を盛り上げてくれています。

Also an exhibition of Chrysanthemum (florists' daisy) held in Hibiya park makes autumn atmosphere more colorful.

こんな立派な菊を咲かせるにはどれほどの手がかかっているのでしょうか。
It must be incredible effort be necessary to glow such beautiful chrysanthemum bloomed.

世田谷農業祭・園芸展/ Farmers and florists festival in Setagaya

東京の中でも閑静な住宅街が多いことで知られる世田谷ですが、農家や園芸商のお祭りが世田谷公園で開かれていました。

Setagaya is well-known as quiet residential area near downtown in Tokyo, but last Sunday, farmers and florist festival in the area was held in a Setagaya park I visited. 

普通に並べられた花を買うのも楽しいですが、チャリティーオークションで掘り出し物を探す楽しみも

You may enjoy buying flowers from displayed on the ground, but it could be more exciting to purchase from an auctioneer at charity auction.

地元の農家の野菜の直売もあって並んだのですが、人気があって売切れでした。来年はもう少し早く行かないと。

I was waiting in a queue for buying fresh vegetables produced by farmers in the area, but I was not able to buy them sold out since it was so popular. I should come earlier next time.

近くの広場では、親子でバザーや音楽を楽しめるイベントもあってそちらも盛り上がっていました。

Other area in the park, special event for joining a flee market or dance music for families with small children were organized. Many children and parents were enjoying the event, too.

小春日和の休日を、ゆっくり楽しめました。
It was a good and warm autumn day for relaxing.

ルワンダ・キガリの花々 草花/ Flowers in Kigali, Rwanda, herbaceous flowers

キガリの花シリーズの最終回です。これまでは木や蔓に咲く花たちを紹介しましたが、今回は草花を紹介したいと思います。木に咲く花々は日本と違った熱帯らしい珍しい花が多かったのですが、草花はどちらかといえば、日本でも馴染みのある花が目につきました。

As the last article of flowers in Kigali after some articles of flowers on trees or veins, I would like to introduce herbaceous flowers in this time. Many flowers on trees or veins I found in here were exotic for me, however many herbaceous flowers in Kigali were rather familiar with me in contrast.

季節がよかったのか市内のあちこちで見かけたのが、ヘメロカリス(Hemerocallis)です。日本のノカンゾウ(Hemerocallis fulva)によく似た花を見ると少しほっとしました。

I found many hemerocallis or day lily flowers resemble to Japanese orange day-lily (Hemerocallis fulva), it may be fortunately very good season for blooming.

日本の花壇でもよく見かけるニチニチソウ(Catharanthus roseus)ですが、こちらのニチニチソウは茎もしっかりして立派ですね。ハナチョウジ(Russelia equisetiformi)とのツーショットは日本ではあまり見られないかもしれません。

This is a Madagascar periwinkle(Catharanthus roseus) which is also very popular in Japan but stems of the flower looked much stronger than ones in Japan. Madagascar periwinkle with firecracker-plant (Russelia equisetiformis) can be seldom seen in open-space in Japan since firecracker-plant is only planted in greenhouse in Japan usually.

こちらは、アガパンサス(Agapanthus africanus)とスパイダーリリー(hymenocallis littoralis) のツーショットです。二つとも英名ではlilyがついていますが、ちょっとユリとは趣が違う感じですね。

This is two-shot of two different lilies, African-lily(Agapanthus africanus) and spider lily (hymenocallis littoralis) side by side.

カンナ(Canna generalis)やゴクラクチョウカ(Strelitzia reginae)は日本でも見かけることがありますが、やはり南国の雰囲気が良いですね。またジャコビニア(Justicia rizzinii)は初めて見ました。

I can see canna and bird of paradise also in Japan, but they look mush brighter for me may-be in tropical atmosphere. Ii is first time foe me to see a flower named Brazilian fuchsia (Justicia rizzinii).

花壇の中に、菊（小菊）の花を見つけたのは驚きでした。遠く離れたキガリで、まさか日本を象徴する秋の花、菊を見るとは思いませんでした。

Chrysanthemum morifolium/Florist's daisy/キク

I was surprised to find florist's daisy(Chrysanthemum morifolium) in Kagali, since I believed this flower was typical Japanese autumn flower native to Japan and China.

忙しい旅先でも、花を見る時間を少しとってみると、色々な発見があったり、気分転換が出来て、旅の疲れも少しとれるような気がします。

Anyway, watching flowers in foreign country even during busy traveling time can be useful for discovering interesting things or changing feeling and it may a little bit ease fatigue of traveling.

さて、何回かに分けて紹介してきましたルワンダ・キガリの記事ですが、今回で終わりにします。
遠い国なので、また行けるどうかはわかりませんが、幸い近所にルワンダのコーヒー豆を売ってくれるお店屋さんもあるので、そのコーヒーを飲みながらルワンダのことを思い出したいと思ってます。

I will finish my report of Kigali, Rwanda this time. I don't know I can revisit this country since it is far from Japan. However, I can remember this country by drinking Rwandan coffee since I know a good coffee shop near my house, and I can buy good quality Rwandan coffee in this shop.

ルワンダ・キガリの花々 蔓の花/ Flowers in Kigali, Rwanda, flowers on a vein

前回は木の上に咲く花たちを紹介しましたが、今回は蔓に咲く花々を紹介します。木の上の花も綺麗な花が多かったですが、多くの素敵な蔓性の花を楽しむことができました。

In the last article, I introduced some flowers on tall trees but this time I would like to write on some flowers on the veins which are also attractive and interesting.

まず、目を引かれたのは、ピンクノウゼンカズラ(Podranea ricasoliana) 、初めて見た花でしたが、薄いピンクの花が可憐です。

A pink trumpet vine (Podranea ricasoliana), this the first time to see, but I was attracted pretty pink color of this.

こちらは、薄いブルーのベンガルヤハズズカズラ(Thunbergia grandiflora)、かなり生命力の強い植物のようで、バンコクでも時々見かけた花です。

This is a another flower on vein called Bengal clockvine (Thunbergia grandiflora), with pale blue color. It seems the plant strong enough to climb up anywhere and I found it in Bangkok.

この２つの蔓性の花が、大きな木から垂れ下がっている姿は圧巻でした。
It was amazing to see these two vein flowers climbing up a big tree.

このベンガルヤハズズカズラの仲間ですが、もう少し小ぶりで濃い青色の花のコダチヤハズカズラ、この花は蔓ではなくブッシュ状になります。

Bush Thunbergia is belonging same family of Bengal clockvine and has small but deeper blue color flower.

燃える赤やオレンジ色の、 ヒメノウゼンカズラ(Tecomaria capensis)、 カエンカズラ(Pyrostegia venusta)　は南国の花の雰囲気が漂っています。

Pyrostegia venusta/Orange trumpet creeper/カエンカズラ

Flowers of buring red or orange, cape honeysuckle (Tecomaria capensis) or orange trumpet creeper (Pyrostegia venusta) are well harmonized with tropical atmospher.

そして、大きな花の塊りの中でピンク、紫、オレンジなどの様々な小さな花を咲かせる クレロデンドルム　スペキオスム(Clerodendrum x spciosume)、これだけ立派な花は日本では温室でもなかなか見られないかもしれませんね。

Many colorful small flowers such as pink, red and orange are blooming in a big cluster, it might be difficult to see such pretty Java glory vine (Clerodendrum x spciosume) even in a greenhouse in Japan.

年間を通じて温暖な気候が熱帯の蔓性の植物にもよくあっているのか、鮮やかな花を多く咲かせていました。次回は、草花についてまとめてみたいと思います。
Warm climate in Kigali can be suitable to vein plant I can find many pretty flowers. I will touch on some herbaceous flowers in next time.

ルワンダ・キガリの花々 花木編/ Flowers in Kigali, Rwanda, flowering trees

しばらく別の話題が続きましたが、またルワンダシリーズを再開させてください。
ルワンダ・キガリに行って驚いたのは、ゴミが落ちていなくて、すごく清潔な街だということです。そして綺麗な花々が街を彩っていました。今回は１０日ほどの短い滞在でしたが、キガリの街で出会った花たち紹介したいと思います。

After I wrote some other topics recently, but I would like to return on topics on Rwanda again.
I was a little bit surprised with Kigali is a very clean city without any litters on roads but with many beautiful flowers, I would like to introduce some attractive flowers in the city I found during my stay in there.

まずは、ジャカランダ(Jacaranda mimosifolia)、南米原産の木ですが、キガリでも素敵な薄紫の花を咲かせている大きな木を何本も見ました。
Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia), I was able to watch many big trees with shallow purple flowers, although it is native to South America.

燃えるような赤い花のカエンボク：火炎木(Spathodea campanulata)、African tulip と呼ばれ隣国ウガンダなどアフリカの乾燥した森林原産で、キガリでも市内のあちこちで見かけました。

Spathodea campanulata/African tulip;flame-of-the-forest/カエンボク African tulip (Spathodea campanulata) also called flame-of-the-forest, it is often seen burning red flowers in the city.　It is native in dry forest of Africa, including these area.

もう一つの赤い花「鳳凰木」(Delonix regia)、日本語でカエンジュ（火炎樹）とも呼ばれ、上のカエンボク（火炎木）と混同されることが良くあります。マダガスカル原産ですが、キガリではあまり見かけませんでした、バンコクでは良く見かけたのですが、ここでは、咲く季節が少し違うのかもしれません。

Delonix regia/flame tree, phoenix flower/カエンジュ

Another red flower, flame tree (Delonix regia), sometimes called flamboyant or phoenix flower, the flower is sometimes confused with “Spathodea campanulata”, it is native to Madagascar. I was not able to find this flower so much, may be not best flowering season.

この３つの花は世界三大花木とも呼ばれていますが、この３つを野外で同時に見られたのは嬉しかったです。
These three are sometimes called as the most beautiful and popular three flowering trees in the world, and it is very happy for me to see these same time and same place.

これらの世界的にも有名な花よりも、目だって咲いていたのがred hot poker tree（赤く焼けた火かき棒の意味）　(Erythrina abyssinica)、ルワンダ語とではumukoと呼ばれているようですが、ルワンダを含むこの地域の原産のようです。濃いオレンジの束子のようなユニークな花が目を引きました。

A flower called a "red hot poker tree" (Erythrina abyssinica), it is native to these area including Rwanda, and called in Rwandan as "umuko". It is very eye-catching dark orange flower with unique shape like a scrubbing brush.

こちらは、香港の国旗にも描かれている、オーキッドツリーの仲間で、淡いピンクの花びらに一枚だけ濃いピンクのピンクオーキッドツリー(Bauhinia monandra)。まさにカトレアのような花の姿です。

Pink orchid tree (Bauhinia monandra) is member of Bauhinia, it is same family of orchid tree which is drawn in a flag of Hongkong. Comparison of pale and dark pink is like a Cattleya.

ジャガイモやナスのような紫色の花を樹上に咲かせているのは、その名もGiant Star Potato Tree (Solanum macranthum)です。

This flower looks like potato or egg plant but on a tall tree top, and named Giant Star Potato Tree (Solanum macranthum, family of potato.

この木は、ポインセチア（Euphorbia pulcherrima）の仲間だと思います。苞葉の赤色は少しまばらですが、クリスマスの頃には赤くなるのでしょうか？

This flower can be in same family of a poinsettia （Euphorbia pulcherrima）, some of bracts or leaves are red but not so dominant. It may be more redish in Christmas time?

こちらは赤と黄色の組み合わせが綺麗なオオゴチョウ（大胡蝶）(Caesalpinia pulcherrima)、英語ではpeocock flower　と呼ばれています。

This is also beautiful flwoer of good combination of yellow and red color, peocock flower (Caesalpinia pulcherrima).

ちなみにこちらの花はオオゴチョウにも少し似ていますが、花の形が少し違うので別の種類の花だと思い色々と調べたのですが、名前がわかりません。どなたがご存じないでしょうか？

A flower below is also yellow and red flower and resembled to peocock flower, but I believe it cold be different. I appreciate if someone tell me name of this flower.

熱帯の花木の定番の花、プルメリアやハイビスカスもあちらこちらで咲いていました。

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis/Chinese hibiscus/ブッソウゲ;ハイビスカス

I can find many other popular tropical flowers such as plumeria ( Plumeria spp.) or hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) .

こうして見ると、やはりキガリには南国らしい綺麗な花が多いですね。キガリの花については、もう少し続けたいと思います。

I suppose many tropical flowers can be seen in Kigali, although temparature is not so high. I will continue to on this topics more.
