ルワンダ・キガリの花々 花木編/ Flowers in Kigali, Rwanda, flowering trees

しばらく別の話題が続きましたが、またルワンダシリーズを再開させてください。
ルワンダ・キガリに行って驚いたのは、ゴミが落ちていなくて、すごく清潔な街だということです。そして綺麗な花々が街を彩っていました。今回は１０日ほどの短い滞在でしたが、キガリの街で出会った花たち紹介したいと思います。

After I wrote some other topics recently, but I would like to return on topics on Rwanda again.
I was a little bit surprised with Kigali is a very clean city without any litters on roads but with many beautiful flowers, I would like to introduce some attractive flowers in the city I found during my stay in there.

まずは、ジャカランダ(Jacaranda mimosifolia)、南米原産の木ですが、キガリでも素敵な薄紫の花を咲かせている大きな木を何本も見ました。
Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia), I was able to watch many big trees with shallow purple flowers, although it is native to South America.

燃えるような赤い花のカエンボク：火炎木(Spathodea campanulata)、African tulip と呼ばれ隣国ウガンダなどアフリカの乾燥した森林原産で、キガリでも市内のあちこちで見かけました。

Spathodea campanulata/African tulip;flame-of-the-forest/カエンボク African tulip (Spathodea campanulata) also called flame-of-the-forest, it is often seen burning red flowers in the city.　It is native in dry forest of Africa, including these area.

もう一つの赤い花「鳳凰木」(Delonix regia)、日本語でカエンジュ（火炎樹）とも呼ばれ、上のカエンボク（火炎木）と混同されることが良くあります。マダガスカル原産ですが、キガリではあまり見かけませんでした、バンコクでは良く見かけたのですが、ここでは、咲く季節が少し違うのかもしれません。

Delonix regia/flame tree, phoenix flower/カエンジュ

Another red flower, flame tree (Delonix regia), sometimes called flamboyant or phoenix flower, the flower is sometimes confused with “Spathodea campanulata”, it is native to Madagascar. I was not able to find this flower so much, may be not best flowering season.

この３つの花は世界三大花木とも呼ばれていますが、この３つを野外で同時に見られたのは嬉しかったです。
These three are sometimes called as the most beautiful and popular three flowering trees in the world, and it is very happy for me to see these same time and same place.

これらの世界的にも有名な花よりも、目だって咲いていたのがred hot poker tree（赤く焼けた火かき棒の意味）　(Erythrina abyssinica)、ルワンダ語とではumukoと呼ばれているようですが、ルワンダを含むこの地域の原産のようです。濃いオレンジの束子のようなユニークな花が目を引きました。

A flower called a "red hot poker tree" (Erythrina abyssinica), it is native to these area including Rwanda, and called in Rwandan as "umuko". It is very eye-catching dark orange flower with unique shape like a scrubbing brush.

こちらは、香港の国旗にも描かれている、オーキッドツリーの仲間で、淡いピンクの花びらに一枚だけ濃いピンクのピンクオーキッドツリー(Bauhinia monandra)。まさにカトレアのような花の姿です。

Pink orchid tree (Bauhinia monandra) is member of Bauhinia, it is same family of orchid tree which is drawn in a flag of Hongkong. Comparison of pale and dark pink is like a Cattleya.

ジャガイモやナスのような紫色の花を樹上に咲かせているのは、その名もGiant Star Potato Tree (Solanum macranthum)です。

This flower looks like potato or egg plant but on a tall tree top, and named Giant Star Potato Tree (Solanum macranthum, family of potato.

この木は、ポインセチア（Euphorbia pulcherrima）の仲間だと思います。苞葉の赤色は少しまばらですが、クリスマスの頃には赤くなるのでしょうか？

This flower can be in same family of a poinsettia （Euphorbia pulcherrima）, some of bracts or leaves are red but not so dominant. It may be more redish in Christmas time?

こちらは赤と黄色の組み合わせが綺麗なオオゴチョウ（大胡蝶）(Caesalpinia pulcherrima)、英語ではpeocock flower　と呼ばれています。

This is also beautiful flwoer of good combination of yellow and red color, peocock flower (Caesalpinia pulcherrima).

ちなみにこちらの花はオオゴチョウにも少し似ていますが、花の形が少し違うので別の種類の花だと思い色々と調べたのですが、名前がわかりません。どなたがご存じないでしょうか？

A flower below is also yellow and red flower and resembled to peocock flower, but I believe it cold be different. I appreciate if someone tell me name of this flower.

熱帯の花木の定番の花、プルメリアやハイビスカスもあちらこちらで咲いていました。

Plumeria spp./Plumeria/ プルメリア

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis/Chinese hibiscus/ブッソウゲ;ハイビスカス

I can find many other popular tropical flowers such as plumeria ( Plumeria spp.) or hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) .

こうして見ると、やはりキガリには南国らしい綺麗な花が多いですね。キガリの花については、もう少し続けたいと思います。

I suppose many tropical flowers can be seen in Kigali, although temparature is not so high. I will continue to on this topics more.
