ルワンダ・キガリの花々 草花/ Flowers in Kigali, Rwanda, herbaceous flowers

キガリの花シリーズの最終回です。これまでは木や蔓に咲く花たちを紹介しましたが、今回は草花を紹介したいと思います。木に咲く花々は日本と違った熱帯らしい珍しい花が多かったのですが、草花はどちらかといえば、日本でも馴染みのある花が目につきました。

As the last article of flowers in Kigali after some articles of flowers on trees or veins, I would like to introduce herbaceous flowers in this time. Many flowers on trees or veins I found in here were exotic for me, however many herbaceous flowers in Kigali were rather familiar with me in contrast.

季節がよかったのか市内のあちこちで見かけたのが、ヘメロカリス(Hemerocallis)です。日本のノカンゾウ(Hemerocallis fulva)によく似た花を見ると少しほっとしました。

I found many hemerocallis or day lily flowers resemble to Japanese orange day-lily (Hemerocallis fulva), it may be fortunately very good season for blooming.

日本の花壇でもよく見かけるニチニチソウ(Catharanthus roseus)ですが、こちらのニチニチソウは茎もしっかりして立派ですね。ハナチョウジ(Russelia equisetiformi)とのツーショットは日本ではあまり見られないかもしれません。

This is a Madagascar periwinkle(Catharanthus roseus) which is also very popular in Japan but stems of the flower looked much stronger than ones in Japan. Madagascar periwinkle with firecracker-plant (Russelia equisetiformis) can be seldom seen in open-space in Japan since firecracker-plant is only planted in greenhouse in Japan usually.

こちらは、アガパンサス(Agapanthus africanus)とスパイダーリリー(hymenocallis littoralis) のツーショットです。二つとも英名ではlilyがついていますが、ちょっとユリとは趣が違う感じですね。

This is two-shot of two different lilies, African-lily(Agapanthus africanus) and spider lily (hymenocallis littoralis) side by side.

カンナ(Canna generalis)やゴクラクチョウカ(Strelitzia reginae)は日本でも見かけることがありますが、やはり南国の雰囲気が良いですね。またジャコビニア(Justicia rizzinii)は初めて見ました。

I can see canna and bird of paradise also in Japan, but they look mush brighter for me may-be in tropical atmosphere. Ii is first time foe me to see a flower named Brazilian fuchsia (Justicia rizzinii).

花壇の中に、菊（小菊）の花を見つけたのは驚きでした。遠く離れたキガリで、まさか日本を象徴する秋の花、菊を見るとは思いませんでした。

Chrysanthemum morifolium/Florist's daisy/キク

I was surprised to find florist's daisy(Chrysanthemum morifolium) in Kagali, since I believed this flower was typical Japanese autumn flower native to Japan and China.

忙しい旅先でも、花を見る時間を少しとってみると、色々な発見があったり、気分転換が出来て、旅の疲れも少しとれるような気がします。

Anyway, watching flowers in foreign country even during busy traveling time can be useful for discovering interesting things or changing feeling and it may a little bit ease fatigue of traveling.

さて、何回かに分けて紹介してきましたルワンダ・キガリの記事ですが、今回で終わりにします。
遠い国なので、また行けるどうかはわかりませんが、幸い近所にルワンダのコーヒー豆を売ってくれるお店屋さんもあるので、そのコーヒーを飲みながらルワンダのことを思い出したいと思ってます。

I will finish my report of Kigali, Rwanda this time. I don't know I can revisit this country since it is far from Japan. However, I can remember this country by drinking Rwandan coffee since I know a good coffee shop near my house, and I can buy good quality Rwandan coffee in this shop.
