医療費控除の確定申告で少し考えたこと。 Tax refund by medical expenditures.

医療費の支出が世帯で年間１０万円を超えると税金の還元が受けられるというので、確定申告してきました。計算してみると還元額はたいした額でもないので、手間隙を考えたら、申告するかどうか迷ったのですが、せっかく計算したこともあり申告してきました。

I found my medical cost including my family last year had been over than JPY 100 thousands and applicable to tax refunding. I was hesitating over visiting a tax office or not since expected refund was not so large but I decided to go.

税金は源泉徴収されているので、普段はあまり意識しないのですが、確定申告の準備をすると、税金のこと、健康保険のことを考えるいい機会になりました。年間医療費が１０万円を超えているということは、健康保険から３０万円以上補填をしてもらっているということです（もちろん応分の掛け金は払ってのことですが、やはり有り難さを実感します）。

Since my income tax has been withheld at the source, I have been little conscious on the tax. However filling up application form gives me good opportunity to rethink tax or health insurance system in same time. Paying medical expenditures more than JYP 100 thousands means I have received compensation more than JPY 300 thousands from the system. Of course I am paying necessary premium, but I can recognize the benefit of the system, too.

日本ではほとんど人が健康保険に入っていますが、以前暮らしていたタイでは、保険に入っていない人が多いので、保険に入っているか医療費を払えることを証明できなければ、入院を拒否されたり、ひどい場合は救急車にも乗せてもらえないこともあると聞きました。大きな金の指輪やネックレスを身に着けているのは、そのためだという説もありました。

In Japan almost all people join to the health insurance supervised by the Government, however in Thailand, I used to live, patients need to sure their ability to afford medical cost by showing insurance policy or their property since number of people who has joined group health insurance is limited. Therefore people who cannot show their capacity may not be allowed hospitalization or may be rejected to use ambulance. I heard that is one of the reason people wearing huge gold ring or neckless on their bodies.

指輪やネックレスなどを身につけていなくても、安心して医療を受けられることに感謝しながらも、できれば保険を使わないよう健康管理に気をつけたいと思ったところです。

Thanks for insurance system with which I don’t need worry about medical care without wearing big gold ring but also I recognize that necessity to care about health for preventing illness than treating.

熟成魚場 「福井県美浜町」 日本橋店/ Aging raw fish restaurant Mihama-Cyo Fukui in Tokyo

肉を美味しくなる熟成させる熟成肉が人気ですが、ここは熟成魚を楽しめるお店です。

Aging beef is now becoming popular in Japan, but the popular menu of this restaurant is aging “sashimi” raw fish .

北陸は、福井の鯖のへしこ、石川のふぐの卵巣の粕漬け、富山の昆布締めなど、魚の熟成技術が豊かなところですが、このお店では熟成させた魚のお刺身が食べられます。

Hokuriku region is famous of advanced technology preserving fish meat such as a “Heshiko; bran pickled mackerel ” in Fukui, a pickled ovary of pufferfish in sake lees in Ishikawa, or a raw fish kept in sheets of kelp in Toyama. 　In this restaurant, we can enjoy a new menu as an aging raw fish shashi.

熟成魚は魚のうまみが前に出てくる感じです。特に２週間熟成の塩鰤は刺身と燻製の間のような濃厚な味わいです。福井美浜町で熟成させてから東京に運んでくるそうです。

I can enjoy taste of matured raw fish which has more deep taste of fish by aging. Particularly, two week mature and soiled yellow-tail (Buri) has amazing rich taste I have never tasted. These matured fish has been transported from Mihama town in Fukui prefecture directly after aging.

量ではなくて、美味しいものを少しだけ食べたい熟年層向けの味でしょうか？ただお酒も進みます。

This dish could be suited for middle or senior generation who prefer quality than quantity. But need to be careful too much drink Japanese wine, sake!

赤坂神社巡り ２ 日枝神社 Hie- Jinjya Shrine in Akasaka

前回は静かな氷川神社のことを書きましたが、今回は山王祭で有名な日枝神社を訪ねてみました。

I introduced the Hikawa-jinjya shrine in the last article. This time I would like to write on another famous shrine near-by, Hie-Jinjya shrine. It is also popular by organizing the San-no festival, one of the three big festivals in Tokyo and Japan.

外堀通りの山王下の交差点からはエスカレーターがついた立派な参道があり、いかにも都心の神社の趣です。
鳥居の上が屋根のような形となっている山王鳥居、日枝神社の独特の形です。

One of the approaching steps from San-no-sita intersection is broad and eye-catching way with an escalator, creating unique scene as an urban shrine. A shape of Torii-gate with triangle top called a san-no torii is also unique style as Hie shrines.

エスカレーターで参道を登るのも良いのですが、少し左側に回って、稲荷参道の鳥居をくぐっていくのもお勧めです。 ずらっと並んだ鳥居をくぐって参道を登っていくと、神聖な空間に入っていく実感がわいてきます。鳥居の列を抜けると、日枝神社の末社である山王稲荷、八坂神社、猿田彦神社が並んでいます。

It could be interesting to use the escalator, however I would recommend using another approach called Inari- road from a little bit left side. When you go up through the rows of red torii gate, you can feel go into sacred space. After you go up through the gates you can fine three subordinate shrines, named Sanno-inari, Yasaka and Sarutahiko shrine next to the main Hie shrine.

本殿の横には夫婦の猿の像がおかれています。縁結びや安産の御利益があり、また今年は申年ということもあって、特に人気があるようです。

In front of the main shrine building, there are two monkey statues representing husband, wife and child. They are lucky symbol of marriage and birth and popular to the visitors. They are also very popular since the 2016 is the year of monkey in China and Japan.

江戸城の裏鬼門を守る神社として建立され、今も信仰を集める日枝神社、伝統と現代が交錯する場所です。

The Hie-shrine was built as for protecting Urakimon, unlucky corner; south west of the Edo castle more than 400 years ago. And the shrine have been always attracting people’s faith in Tokyo since then. The place is interesting place as crossroads of traditional and modern technology.

赤坂神社めぐり 氷川神社/ Hikawa-jinja Shrine in Akasaka

賑やかな赤坂にあるとは思えない氷川神社。

A Hikawa-jinja Shrine, it is hard to believe it is located in Akasaka, one of the most busiest downtown of Tokyo.

赤坂通りから数分入っただけなのに、境内に入ったとたんに静かな別世界が広がっています。

Just a few minutes walk from Akasaka street, the precincts of the shrine looks another world from the outside.

坂を上ると、落ち着いた神殿が。昼休みも訪れる人も疎らで、心が落ち着きます。

After climbing up steps, you can find a serene and sacred main building of the shrine. As few people come to the shrine even in la unch time, you can calm down in the place.

周りを見渡させば、ビルも見えますが、静かな境内には鳥の鳴き声が響いていて、一時の静けさを楽しむにはもってこいの場所です。

You may be aware of surrounding tall buildings of downtown, but you can hear voices of birds and enjoy relaxing during lunch time in here.

沈丁花の花が咲き始めました/ Flower of Winter Daphne starts blooming

金木犀が秋の訪れを知らせる香りであるならば、春を告げる香りは沈丁花でしょう。

Smell of a fragrant olive can be signal of autumn beginning, aroma of a Winter Daphne would be foretaste of spring.

まだ咲き始めなので、香りはそれほど漂っていませんが、花に顔を近づけると春の香りを楽しむことができました。

Since it is just begin of blooming, fragrant is not so strong. However if you approach your nose to the flower, you may feel breeze of spring.

去年も春先に沈丁花の記事を書きましたが、今見返してみると3月下旬の記事でした。
今年は全体的に暖かい上に、先日の春の陽気で花が開き始めたのかもしれません。

Although I wrote an article on the winter Daphne last year, it was end of March. I realize this year must be much warmer than last year and warm days of last week made flower blooming.

赤紫と白の組み合わせがちょっと高貴な雰囲気も感じられます。

Combination of reddish purple and white color looks very noble.

近くでは、河津桜がもう満開に近づいています。

Near the Daphne, early blooming cheery blossom variety, Kawazu sakura, becomes almost full blossom.

メジロにはソッポを向かれてしまいました。

A Japanese-white eye (bird) turns away!

東京スカイツリーから一望/ Spectacular view from the Tokyo Skytree

バンコクから帰国して約１年、初めてスカイツリーに登りました。折角なので、空気の澄んだ冬の天気の良い日を狙って行ってきました。

My family and I visited a Tokyo Skytree a couple days ago for our first time more than 1 year after returned back to Tokyo from Bangkok. I selected a clear fine day of winter for expecting good view.

建国記念日の２月１１日、朝から快晴で、富士山も綺麗に見えました。

It was very fine day from early morning, 11th February, and it was National foundation day. I was able to see Mt. Fuji clearly.

開業から約４年、入場者も少し落ち着いたようですが、天気の良い休日は、朝早くから結構な人です。

It is almost four years after ground open of the tower and popularity and congestion becomes mild but a holiday in fine weather is still a little bit crowded.

天望回廊の高さ約４５０ｍ、東京タワーよりも遥かに高いです。まさか東京タワーを上から眺めるとは思いませんでした。

Tembo (sky) galleria is about 450m high and much higher than Tokyo tower. I did not imagine we can overview the Tokyo tower from other tower.

影が、隅田川を越えて、浅草寺のほうに延びています。

Shadow is overarching a Sumida river and almost reaching the Sensoji temple.

天望回廊から見ると、高さ３５０ｍの天望デッキの上で作業する人がいました。休日も保守作業でしょうか、ご苦労様です。

From the upper galleria (450m), I can see some people were working on the roof of lower deck (350m high) for maintaining this structure.

下におりて、ソラマチの屋上庭園から、隣のビルに映るスカイツリーをパノラマで映してみました。少し手振れで、ツリーがゆがんでしまいましたが・・

And then I visited roof garden of basement building of the tower. The tower on the mirror wall of the next building looks quite interesting. The picture is a little bit twisted since I took by panoramic mode with hand move.

板橋熱帯環境植物館/ Itabashi tropical botanical garden

東京都板橋区の高島平にある熱帯環境植物館。温室は隣接するゴミ焼却場の排熱を利用して、隣の温水プールとともに暖房されています。以前に紹介した夢の島の熱帯植物園と同じようなシステムです。

An Itabashi tropical botanical garden is located in Takashimadaira in Itabashi ward, the greenhouse is heated by waste heat produced by a garbage incineration plant next to the garden with a heated swimming pool, this system is similar to Yumenoshima tropical greenhouse that I wrote about in December last year.

それほど大きな温室ではありませんが、東南アジアの熱帯の森林や住宅周りなどの環境を再現し、東南アジアに行ったような気分になれます。

The greenhouse in not so big but it is resembled to tropical forest or nature of surrounding residential area.

マレーシアのペナン植物園と連携して主にマレーシアの植物を展示していますが、以前暮らしていたタイの植物ともにているので、向こうでよく見た花も色々と見られて楽しむことができました。

The garden is cooperating with a botanical garden in Penang, Malaysia and showing many plants ingenious in there. These plants are similar to vegetation in Thailand. These plants make me exciting with mu memory in Thailand.

地下は水族館になっていて、運が良ければ、バンコクのチャオプラヤ川などに生息するエイのえさやりのシーンも見ることができます。

A small aquarium is opened in the basement, and you may see a moment a ray, which is living Chao-praya river in Bangkok, being fed if you are lucky

館内では、ちょっと見つけにくい花や実がなっていることを知らせてくれる展示があったり、特別展示で色々と楽しめる企画もあったりで、結構楽しめることができます。

In the greenhouse, you can find blooming flowers or fruits which may be difficult for finding without indication.

板橋区立ということで、入場料も大人240円とリーズナブルで気楽に楽しむことができます。

This park is public park operated by Itabashi ward and admission fee is only JPY 240 which is very reasonable to join.

ちいさな春/ Just a smell of vernal breeze

寒い日と暖かい日が交互に来る近頃ですが、寒さにじっと耐える植物にも少しずつ春が近づいてきているようです。

In these days, cold days and warm days come alternatively. However spring comes steadily for plants which are standing in cold air patiently.

小さな黄色いマンサクの花。よく見ないと見逃してしまいそうです。

A yellow small flower of Witch-hazel on a twig may be overlooked since it blooms in obscurity.

早咲きの桜の河津桜の蕾もほころんできました。

Buds of Kawazu-sakura, one of the earliest blooming cherry blossom in Tokyo, are just before opening.

菜の花は早くも花が咲きそろってきました。

Many yellow rapeseed blossoms are now blooming well.

日比谷公園のカワセミと鳥たち/ Kingfisher and other birds in Hibiya park

冬枯れの公園は花が少なくてちょっと寂しいのですが、その分、鳥たちの姿を良く見ることができます。
日比谷公園を散歩していて、池の周りに凄い望遠カメラを持っている人たちがたくさんいらっしゃるので気がついたのですが、池に飛び込むカワセミの姿も見られるようです。

A park in winter is not so colorful with few flowers, however it is good season to find many birds in there. I found many visitors having high quality cameras with telephoto lens on the banks of pond and realized a kingfisher can be seen there. And sometimes you can see a kingfisher jumping into a pond in the park.

私のカメラでは、この程度ですが、それでも鮮やかな青色の羽根や長いくちばしの姿を見ることができました。

The pictures taken my ordinary camera are not so dynamic but it is enough to find beautiful blue feather and long bill.

角度によって羽根の色が変わります。And color can be seen a little bit different with different angle.

池の周りを歩いてみると、結構色々な鳥がいることに気がつきます。And I found other birds in or around a pond.

コサギにアオサギ。水辺をゆっくり歩いているので、私でも写すことができます。
A little egret and a gray heron. Since they stand still or walk slowly, I was able to take photo easily.

カルガモも泳いでいます。Spot-billed ducks were on the water.

ヒヨドリでしょうか。May be a brown-eared bulbul?

まだ、公園の木々は冬枯れの木が多いのですが、早咲きの梅は咲き始めています。春ももうすぐですね。

Many trees were still standing without flower or leaves, but early blooming Japanese apricots has already started blooming, and spring will be coming soon!

２月の花、梅/ Flower of February, Japanese apricot

冬の寒い風の中、他の花の蕾が固い頃から、紅白の花を咲かせ、春が少しずつ近づいていることを教えてくれる花です。

Even in cold winter wind and other flower's bud is still hard, The flower of Japanese apricot begin blooming. We can feel invisible spring is coming steadily by seeing these red and white flowers.

春先に咲く花ですが、その中でも正月早々に咲く早咲きのものから、２月から３月にかけてさくもの、花の色も純白に近いものから薄いピンク、赤いものまでバリエーションがあります。
This flower is early spring flower in general, but blooming season is varied from January to March and color is also many variety from red to white.

ゴツゴツと曲がった枝から上に伸びた細い枝に花がつくのが典型的な姿ですが、枝垂れるものもあります。

Flowers on upright shoots from bending rough branches are typical shape of this flower tree but also weeping shape can be seen sometimes.

なお、黄色い花を咲かせる蝋梅は梅の名前がついてます、こちらはロウバイ科という全然違う仲間でむしろクスノキに近い植物だそうです。

Japanese allspice, which blooming yellow flower also early spring and similar name in Japanese, but this flower is under diffferent family and classified in Laurales.
