大学の学食でランチ/ Lunch at food court in a University

法学や政治学など文科系の名門、タマサート大学。キャンパスがいくつかあるが、タープラチャン・キャンパスは、王宮や国立博物館など重要施設の近くにあり、大学創設の場所。キャンパスには自由に出入りでき食堂も誰でも利用できるが、意外と観光客は少なく落ち着いた雰囲気。以前は２階に冷房のついたレストランもあったが、今は１階の冷房のない吹き抜けのフードコートしかないみたい。チャオプラヤ川のほとりにあるので時々川面を渡る風も吹いてくる。

Thammasat University, one of the most prominent university in Thailand, particularly on law or political science. They have several campus in or around Bangkok, but a Tha Prachan Campus is originally funded and most historical place and near to important place like Gland palace or National museum. Anyone can enter into the campus and use restaurant in the campus, however few tourists can be seen in relatively quiet campus there. There used be an air-conditioned restaurant on the second floor but now only a cafeteria food court without air-condition on the ground floor seem to be available. In the food court, however is not so seriously hot as wind from Chao phraya river is sometimes mildly blowing.

フードコート形式の料理はもともと安いので、ここが飛びぬけて安いわけではないが、それでも、今回食べた揚げチキンと蒸しチキンを乗せたビリヤニ（ドライカレー）それぞれ３５バーツはやはりお得感。有名なタイのチキンライス・カオマンガイともちょっと違ってこれも結構美味しかった。
国立博物館などに来たついでに、ちょっと立ち寄るも良いかもしれない。もちろん大学の中なので節度ある行動が重要だが。

The price of dishes in such food court style is basically not so expensive, so the price of here is not so remarkable, but price of a biryani with deep fried chicken, THB 35 was very good price for lunch. I can recommend to come here if you have time when you come to Gland palace or National museum, but of course, please be quiet in the campus, this is not tourist spots.

セブンイレブンのスタンプキャンペーン 2014/ Stamp campaign in Seven-eleven in 2014

年の後半になると始まるセブンイレブンのスタンプキャンペーン。去年も書いたが、今年も昨日の土曜日（７月２６日）から始まった。昨年までと同様５０バーツの買い物で１枚スタンプをもらえるのだが、今年はボーナス対象商品でもらえるスタンプは３ポイントの別のスタンプ（クーポン）となったらしく、応募用紙のシールの貼る場所も裏表の別々となり少し面倒になった上、商品引き換えには、最後にいくらかの現金（１バーツ等）の支払いが必要になるなど、少々複雑になったようだ。

A stamp collection campaign in Seen-eleven in 2014 has been just started from last Saturday as popular annual event in Thailand. The system is similar as last year　that a consumer can get a stamp every THB 50 purchase in the store, but system for bonus coupon which will be separated from usual stamp and calculated separately, which may become a little bit complicated, and consumer need pay very tiny cash such as THB 1 when they apply to campaign gift, such system can be modified from last year.

このキャンペーン、ロゴ入りの面白い景品と交換できるだけでなく割引券としても使え、スタンプ帳のやりとりで事件もおこるほど、タイでは人気のキャンペーン。今年はそういった事件への配慮から仕組みが複雑になったのかも。

This campaign seems very popular in Thai since consumer can choose some special free items with seven-eleven logos according to amount of collected stamps or can use as discount coupon in the shop. And also some troubles were happen last year between customers for trading such collected stamps. I suppose this years modification could be considered for avoiding such troubles.

今年の景品は、去年の景品に比べ、ちょっと魅力がないようにも感じられるが、それでも、ボーナス商品を含め我が家でのセブンイレブンの買い物が増えるんだろうなあ。

Campaign free gifts of this year looks a little bit less attractive than last year , even so, frequency of shopping in Seven-eleven by my family can be increased in this period particularly for bonus goods.

なお早速、貰ったスタンプを寄付（タンブン）するために店内に張られた張り紙には、縁起のよい９９番からシールが張られているのがいかにもタイらしい風景。
By the way, for the seat on the wall in the shop for which customers can make donation for temple, place of lucky number 99 is firstly sealed could be very typical scene in Thailand, isn't it.

ジャックフルーツを剥いてみたI tried to peel out Jack fruit

タイ人の知り合いから、庭になったものだとジャックフルーツを頂いた。ジャックフルーツは４０－５０ｋｇにもなるという世界最大の果実だが、頂いたのはせいぜい３－４ｋｇ（正確な重さを量るのを忘れてました）くらいのジャックフルーツとしては小ぶりなもの。日光の当たらない外に置いておけば２－３日で食べごろになるからと言われ、果実から匂いがしてきたので、食べ頃かと思い解体に挑戦してみた。

My Thai acquaintance presented me a jack fruit that he harvested in a backyard in his house. Jack fruit is the largest fruit in the world and some of them are said to be grown to 40-50kg, but the one gifted was 3-4kg, maybe, but I forgot to weigh, so it was small as jack fruit. I was told it should be stored outside but not under sunshine for two or three days, and then it has been matured and smelled, so I tried to peel it.

中からネバネバしたものが出てくるから、手に食用油をつけて剥けば良いといわれ、薄いビニール手袋に油をつけてから剥いてみた。とりあえず横に真っ二つに切ると、真ん中から木工ボンドをさらに強力にしたような白いネバネバが・・。

I was told I should to put oil on my hand for avoiding sticky and oily materials from fruit to stick my hand, so I tried to peel with thin plastic groves covered with oil. When I cut the fruit , I found white sticky materials like glue was coming from inside.

果実中央のネバネバの白い軸のようなところは取り除き、オレンジがかった黄色い果肉を外皮から外し、中から種子を取り出すとともに、果肉のまわりの白っぽい紐のようなもの（仮果皮というらしい）を外す作業を黙々と繰り替えす。時々果肉を摘み食いすると意外に甘くて歯ごたえもあり美味しい。これで作業する手が早くなった。家内と２人で格闘すること約３０分、なんとか、果肉と種子と仮果皮を取り分けることができた。しかしその後、包丁にこびり付いた白いネバネバ（ちょうど価格シールの接着剤がこびり付いた感じ）をとるのには一苦労。

I put off the white stem with glue and then pulled yellowish orange fruit pulps out from outside skin and separated with seed and surrounded pulps. During peeling job I tasted some fruit pulps and I found they were unexpectedly delicious. After I struggled with the fruit more than 30 minutes, finally we separated pulps, quasi pulps and seeds. But I was annoyed to remove sticky materials on our knives.

正直言ってこれまでに食べたジャックフルーツは、あまり甘みがなくてあまり好きではなかったが、今回のものは、甘みも強く香りもあって（昔食べたフルーツガムのような味）美味しかった。木で適度に熟して、ちゃんと追熟したものは美味しいものだと再認識した（ドリアンと同じく結構当たり外れも大きいらしい）。

To tell the truth, I had not been so pleased with Jack fruit since I was not able to enjoy rich tastes of them. But this time, I was surprised with rich tastes like fruit chewing gun I used to eat in my childhood, and good texture. I realised that good harvested and ripen jack fruit, but Jack fruit seems a kind of hit or miss fruits like Durian.

生の果肉を夕食後のデザートにしたが、さすがに少食べると満腹になり、残りは分けて冷凍保存することに。種子は塩茹ですると、栗のようなサツマイモのような感じになった（塩を振って油で炒っても良いらしい）。仮果皮はあげるとチップスのようになるらしい（果肉もチップスにすることも）。

My family enjoyed jack fruit as desert fruit after supper, but we could not eat all so many of them we kept as frozen. We can eat seeds boiled with salt and tastes were a little bit similar to sweet potato. Fruit pulps and surrounding pulps can be eaten by deep fried as French fly.
なお、我々は最初に横に切ったが、どうやら縦に切ったほうが剥きやすかったらしい。
By the way, I cut horizontally first, but it seems be better cut it vertically first.

路上の職人さんたち/ Convenient craftsmen on the street

バンコクの路上には食べ物や服など色々な物を売っている屋台があるが、それだけではなく、いろんな修理をしてくれる便利な屋台もある。

There are many street hawkers who sell many good such as food, clothes, however, in Bangkok, there are also convenient service persons on the streets.

まずよく見かけるのが、路上にミシンを１台だけ出してズボンのすそ直しや洋服のサイズ直しをしている服の修理屋さん。他の店や屋台で買った服を持ち込んで預けておき、出来上った頃に取りに行くらしい。私は残念ながら利用したことがないが、タイ人はよく利用するようで、腕のいい人のところでは、順番待ちで出来上がりまでに２－３日かかるところもあるとか。ズボンのすそ上げで２０－３０バーツぐらいが相場らしい。

It is very popular to see a sewing man or lady with a treadle sewing machine on a sidewalk. You can ask them to rearrange or repair your clothes which you bought from other shops or vendors. You can pick-up rearranged cloths after their work with very reasonable fare such THB 20-30 for rearrangement of trouser bottoms. I have not used their service but very popular to Thai people and you need to wait two-three days when you ask popular craftsman.

もうひとつが、靴の修理や合鍵を作ってくれる便利屋さん。これもけっこうあちこちで見かける。日本にもあるミ○ター○ニッツの路上版というところか。私も靴底の修理（２０バーツ）と合鍵（５０バーツ）を作ってもらったことがある。靴底が外れて困った時に手際よく直してもらえて有難かった。

It is also popular repair shops for sundries, such as shoes, passkey and so on. It could be something like a “Mister XXnutes” on the sidewalk. Once I had trouble with my sole of shoe, I asked a repairman to fix with THB 20, it was very helpful for me, since I could not walk with broken shoes. Also for making a passkey was THB 50.

カルマカメットという香水屋さん、移転していたけれど/ Although a popular perfume shop “ KARMAKAMET” was moved,

練り香水など、ちょっと変わった商品も取り扱っていて、日本でも人気があるという香水屋さんカルマカメット（東京・青山にも支店があるとか）。バンコク市内にもいくつかお店があるが、街の中心のショッピングモール、セントラルワールド内にもお店があるというので、家内とともに行ってきた。

A popular perfume shop named “ KARMAKAMET” famous for dealing many aromatic goods including solid perfume, it is said to be also popular in Japan since it has a branch in Aoyama, Tokyo.
There are some shops in Bangkok, and I went a shop with my wife in a famous shopping mall “Central World” in downtown, as first time.

事前に調べた情報では２階ということなので、モール内の２階の地図で確認しつつ行ってみると、そこには別のお店が！？

Since I was informed it was in the second floor in the mall, and I tried to find a place checking by a map on the second floor but I found another shop in the place indicated in the map.

もう一度ネットで調べても、日本語ではやはり２階との情報しか。ただ、英語で検索すると３階との情報が。３階に上がると３階の地図には訂正シールが貼ってあり、やっとたどり着けた。

As I found Japanese information which only showed it was on the second floor by internet, but I could find another article informed it is on the third floor in English. Finally I found a place by a map on the third floor on which a correction sticker was on.

店内には、サンプルを入れた小瓶が並び、エギゾチックな雰囲気の中で喫茶も楽しめ、店の様子だけでも人気が出るのを納得。
ただ、日本だったら２階の地図にも移転先のお知らせを貼るだろうに、やはりここはタイだなあと実感した次第。

There are many small bottle with testers settled in selves in the shop. You can also enjoy to drink a cup of coffee or tea in exotic and eccentric atmosphere. I felt I could recognize a reason of popularity of this brand by seeing this shop.
However, I believe the notice sticker should be put on the map on second floor too, in case of Japan, but I recognized here is in Thailand.

香りは好みなのでコメントできないが、家内の言葉では、少し若い人向けなのかもしれない。ただ、この練り香水、香り方がマイルドなので、意外と男性がつけてもよいのかも知れない（まだつけてないけど・・・）

電線の部分放電 in プーケット/ Partial discharge from power line in Phuket

プーケットのビーチ沿いの道を歩いていると、電柱のほうからジジジッという結構大きな音が。最初はセミかと思ったが、どうも電柱付近の電線から音がしているようで、よく見ると青白い光も。漏電しているのかと思い、怖くなって電柱に近寄らないように気をつけて歩いた。

When I was walking a road along to a beach in Phuket, I heard a strange sound like a “ Zzzi”.
First time, I thought the sound would be song of cicada but I found it was coming from power line and utility pole, and also I found blue flash from the lines. I thought it could be electric leak and I walked carefully by not being near the poles.

タイの電線は、メンテナンスが悪いのかと思ったが、調べてみると、電線と電柱の間の碍子（がいし）というところに潮風で運ばれた塩がつき部分放電しているようで、日本でも台風の後などに見られるとか。
あの電柱、ビーチの直ぐ横で、潮風がいつも当たっていたから仕方がないのかなあ。でもやっぱり下を歩くのは怖かったなあ。

見えにくいですが、赤丸の中の白い光が部分放電の光です。/ White light in a red circle is partial discharge, it could be aliitle bit hard to see.

I was thinking that was happened by bad maintenance by Thai company but I found it is common phenomenon that called partial discharge from an insulator between power line and pole when the insulator is covered with salt brought by sea breeze. And it is seen also in Japan, particularly after sea water is brought by strong wind of typhoon.
The power line and pole was on a road facing a beach and always be blown in sea breeze, so it could be avoidable such partial discharge, but I was scared by sound and flash.

雨季のプーケット波高し/ High wave at Phuket in rainy season

タイ南部、アンダマン海に面するプーケットは６月から１０月頃までは雨季で、その名の通り、１日何回かのスコールがやってくる。スコールは普通はせいぜい３０分程度なので、少し雨宿りするか、軽装なので濡れてもそう気にならないが、もう一つの問題は波。せっかくプーケットに来たら、やはり綺麗な海で泳ぎたいが、外海に面したビーチは波が高くて遊泳禁止になることも多い。
このため雨季は、ホテルや飛行機も安くなり（２泊すると３泊目はただというキャンペーンをやっているホテルも多い）、これを利用してカオパンサーの４連休を利用してプーケットに。

Phuket located in south in Thai and facing Andaman Sea is now in rainy season from June to October. It has a few short tropical shower in day in rainy season but not so serious since it usually less than half hour and tourists are wearing in casual style. But other problem, high wave could be more serious, since you cannot swim at beaches facing outside Andaman Sea.
Therefore fares of hotels and air-ticket would be much lower than dry season, and many hotels make special promotion such as three nights stay in two nights price. So my family visited there using Khao Pansar long weekend with such promotion.

プーケット島の東側のクラビ側の湾に点在する小島に行けば、海も綺麗だし波も穏やかで、雨季でもシュノーケリングやダイビングもできるかと期待し小島を回るアイランドホッピングのツアーを申し込んだ。いくつかのツアーは波が高くてダメで、比較的波の穏やかなカイ島やコーラル島に行くことになった。
訪れた小島は、それでもやはり波が高くて、シュノーケリングポイントの岩場は危なくて近づけず、砂浜は水は綺麗だけど波で白砂が巻き上げられ視界が悪く、結局は打ち寄せる波にあわせてプカプカと浮いているだけだったがこれはこれで意外と楽しかった。

水も綺麗で魚も泳いでいるのだが、砂が舞い上がり、なかなか見られない/ Wateri is clear and tropical fishes are swimming, but cannot see well, sorry.

I was expecting some small islands located in east side of Phuket inside bay we were able to enjoy snorkeling or diving since they might be calm and clean water. When I tried to book some one-day island hopping tours, I was told that some islands could be too high wave and could not. And then I decided to go Kai island and Coral Island for enjoying swimming in the sea.
These islands I visited was relatively calm but still high wave, and I could not access to near rocks and water was cloudy be white sands by waves. So we were just drifting on the wavy water with life jackets, but it was unexpectedly funny.

バナナボートも楽しかったが、それよりも行き帰りのスピードボートのほうが迫力があって実は一番楽しんだのはこれだったかもしれない？

Also I enjoyed “ Banana boat” drawn by speed boat, but I enjoyed real speed boat from/ back to small islands and Phuket island.

浜辺の天気は目まぐるしく変わり、スコールがあったかと思えば、強い日差しが差したりして、帰ってきたら、意外と日焼けしていた。
蛇足ながら、ビーチで私がビール、家内がドリアンを頼んだら、現地のガイドさんが飛んできて、絶対一緒に口にするなと注意されちょっと苦笑い。
雨季のプーケット、安く楽しめるが、その分なかなか予定通りに行かないことも覚悟して行くのが良いみたい。

Whether on the beach was easily changed time by time, like strong sunshine just after strong shower, and I was sun-tan remarkably.
On the beach, just after I ordered a can of beer and my wife ordered some durians, a local guide rushed us for warning not eat and drink combined! Yes it is said beer and durian sometimes kill humans!
You can enjoy Phuket in rainy season very reasonable prices but you should remember sometimes you cannot enjoy some activities by bad weather.

ブログ２周年/ 2nd anniversary of my blog

７月１５日でブログを初めて２周年になった。ちょうど２年前、バンコクに来て約半年が過ぎバンコクの色々なことが見え始めたころ、このブログのタイトルにもしている彩雲を偶然見たのをきっかけに始めたこのブログ。最初は見よう見真似で始め、おどおどしながら書いていた記事も、最近は記事にするネタがないと少し不安になって、本末転倒かなあと思いつい苦笑いしてしまうことも。
２年間で約２８０の記事を書くことができ、アクセス数も６６，０００回を超えた。１年前の記事で比較すると、２年目は１年目に比べ記事を書く頻度が３日に１回から２．５日に１回に増えたのに加え、アクセス数が約６倍以上になったのは、自分でも少々驚いた。アクセス数が増えたのは日本ブログ村のアクセスランキングに参加したことも大きかったと思う。
ここまで、こうして続けてこられたのは、皆さんから、色々な感想や「いいね」をしてもらえたおかげと思い感謝しています。
このブログを始めて、周りの景色を気にするようになったと思う。特にタイの朝夕の景色はダイナミックで日本では滅多に見ることもなかった朝日や夕日の景色を写真を撮る機会も増えた。残念ながら、２年前以来、一度も彩雲は見ることが出来なかったが、その代わりに、きれいな夕日や朝日を見ることができたので、よろしければ、タイの朝夕の景色を楽しんで頂ければ幸いです。

これからもどうぞ宜しくお願いします。

Today,15 July is 2nd anniversary of my this blog. Two yeas ago, I was just to start to be familiar with Thai life, and I could see a cloud iridescence at that time so I started to write an article in my blog.
I have wrote 279 articles and more than 66,000 visitors to read my blog. Comparing two data, 1 uploaded an article 1 time per 2.5 days, from 1 time per three days in first year and more than 150 visitors to come yo my blog from 20 visitors/day in first year.
One reason increasing access number could be joining ` Nippon blog villeage` as well as many readers support.
I also to be able to find good scene particularly in sun rise and sunset although I was not ale to find a cloud iridescence again.

７月１６日の夕日も綺麗だったので１枚追加しました。

酒類販売禁止日のプーケット/Holiday in Phuket in no alcoholic day

7月11日、12日はカオパンサー（入安居）等の祝日で、振り替え休日も含めて11日から14日まで4連休。この連休を利用して、我が家もプーケットにやってきた。
仏教関係の休日は酒類販売禁止になるので、プーケットのシーフードレストランでビールは飲めないと楽しみも半減かなあと思いながら街へ出かけてみた。
プーケットでも一番賑やかなパトンビーチのバングラ通り近くに安くて美味しいレストランがあるというので来て見たが、周りのオープンエアのビアバーも店を閉じひっそり。シーフードレストランはやっていたがやはり、ビールは出せないという。
しかたがないので、フライを中心にテイクアウトにしてホテルの部屋で食べることに。こういうこともあろうかと、バンコクからビールを少し多めに持ってきていて良かった。

In Thailand, 11 and 12 July 2014 are Buddhist holidays such as Khao phansa and are long weekend including in lieu holiday in 14 July, so our family come to Phoket for enjoying.
At the Friday nights, we went to downtown for taking dinner but a little bit worried about we could not order alcoholic drink in a seafood restaurant. When we arrived at Bangla street in Patong beach which is most popular street in night time in Phuket, I found all of open-air beer bar are closed and very quiet, and a popular seafood restaurant was open but not serve beer!
So we decided to take-way some dishes and enjoyed in our room in the hotel as we brought some cans of beers from Bangkok.

ただ、帰り道によく見てみると、いくつかのレストランではビールを飲んでる客も。どうやらホテル直営のレストランはアルコールもＯＫのよう。まあいいかと金曜の夜はホテルの部屋でささやかな晩餐。
12日の夜は、もう一度街に向かい、ホテルの前で営業しているこじんまりしたレストランで「ビールはＯＫ？」と聞くと、にっこりと「ＯＫ！」と。メニューをみるとリーズナブルな値段で、そこで夕食をとることに。やはり、出来立ての料理を冷えたビールとともに食べるのが最高。泊まっているホテルのレストランでももちろんビールは飲めるが、値段を考えるとやはり街のレストランのほうが。

However on the way back the hotel, I found some customers in restaurants drunk beer and it could be restaurant connected to hotel.
So next day, Saturday evening, we went a little restaurant in front of other hotel and ask a waitress if they can serve a beer and she replied yes with smile. So we decided to take dinner in this restaurant.

そして、今回の旅行の最後の13日の夜は、酒類販売禁止も終わり、今度は別のシーフードレストランで、じっくりビールを飲みながら、シーフードを堪能した。
タイは、仏教関係の祝日が多く、これを利用した連休の旅行では、酒類販売が禁止されるので、お酒好きには、食事の計画に少し工夫が必要かも。

And then last night, it was also our last night in Phuket, we went to other popular sea food restaurant for enjoying sea-foods and beer, since not regulation of alcoholic drink, any more!
I would like to recommend if you want enjoy beer in Thai holiday, so a little bit be careful for considering Buddhist holidays.

バンコクの生垣などでも時々見かける鮮やかな青色の花のバタフライピー（タイ語ではアンチャン）。この生花の部分を熱湯で煮ると鮮やかな青色のジュース（ハーブティ）の出来あがり。ビタミン豊富で、髪の色艶が良くなるという。タイ人の友人が最近私の白髪が増えたのを気遣ってか、自宅の庭に咲いていたというアンチャンを少しばかり私にも渡してくれた。

Clitoria ternatea/Butterfly pea/อัญชัน `anchan / チョウマメ　蝶豆

It is commonly seen a flower of Butterfly Pea on hedge or hence in Bangkok, and the flower is very impressive of its blight blue, Thai name is Uang Chan. When you can put these fresh flowers in boiled water, very beautiful blue juice (or called herb tea) of butterfly pea can be easily made.
The juice contents rich vitamin and said to be good for colour of hair. My Thai fried kindly gave me some flowers from his house and told me its effectiveness since he might be noticed my hair have been faded a little bit recently.

香りも味もほとんどなく（少し豆の青臭いにおいがするが）、砂糖や蜂蜜を加えて飲むと飲みやすい。氷を加えて冷たくして飲んでも見たが、暖かいハーブティ感覚で飲むほうが飲みやすいかも。

It has little smell and tastes (but a little bit green legume smell) and it becomes mild and smooth by adding sugar or honey. I tried to drink cold one by adding ice but it could be better to drink hot one.

カオサンファッション Fashion in Khaosan street

バックパッカー等の世界中の旅行者が集まってくるカオサン通り。高い気温と自由な雰囲気の中、開放的なファッションで気ままに歩いている若者が多い。

　

Khaosan street, famous place where travelers particularly back-packers from all over the world are coming to. Reflecting high temperature and atmosphere of freedom, many young travelers are strolling with casual and open minded fashion.

ダブダブのいわゆるカオサンパンツやエスニック柄のワンピースなどが典型的と言えるかもしれないが、型にはまらず、自分の好きなスタイルで自由気ままに歩くのがカオサン流なのかもしれない。

Baggy pants or one-peace dress with ethnic print may be typical fashion but free style without rule could be Khaosan style.

カオサンを歩く人々のファンションをお楽しみください。

建設ラッシュを支える人たち/ Workers indispensable to construction rush in Bangkok

朝な夕な建設現場で働く人たちを乗せたトラックがよく通る。彼らはタイ農村部やカンボジア、ミャンマー等周辺国からバンコクにやって来て飯場で暮らし、朝早くから夜遅くまで建設現場で働き、バブルともいわれるバンコクの建設ラッシュを支えている。
ただ最近、軍事政権になって不法滞在者への取締りが厳しくなるとの噂が広がり、祖国に帰る人も増えているという。タイ経済の意外なアキレス腱かもしれない。

You can see many construction workers are packed on back-load of truck in morning or evening in Bangkok. They seems to come from remote province area in Thailand or surrounding countries such as Cambodia or Myanmar, and they are staying in bunkhouses. They work very hard from early morning to night and they must be indispensable to construction rush in Bangkok, it seems in bubble economy.
However, recently many workers said to rush back to their countries by one rumor that military junta could crack down on illegal workers, so it might be Achilles tendon of Thai economy.

路上の花輪売り/ Small jasmine wreath sellers on roads

仏像やサーン・プラプーム（精霊の家）の前に飾る、ジャスミンや菊等の花輪は街中のあちこちで売られているが、信号待ちの車相手の路上でも良く見かける。車の中のバックミラーのところに吊るす人も多く、値段は２０バーツが相場のよう。

It is very common in Bangkok to see venders for selling small wreath by Jasmines and/or Chrysanthemum for offering in front of Buddha statues or spirit house (san phra phum). Also you can see such venders on the road selling for drivers waiting traffic rights. They could be decorated in the car by hanging under the rear view mirror. Price of the wreath is usually THB20.

以前の記事に書いたバナナチップ売りとこの花輪売りがバンコクの路上販売では良く見かける商売で、他の国で時々見かける新聞売りや窓拭きはあまり見たことがない（少なくとも私の通勤途中では）。国が変われば売れる商品も変わるのかな、そういえば時々宝くじを売っている人もいるようだけど。

The seller of the wreath and Banana chips; which I wrote in an article before, are very popular in Bangkok, and seldom seen of newspaper boy or window cleaner they are common in other country, at least on my way to office. And I sometimes can see vendor of lottery but not so common.

STAR BACK CAFE?

雑多な物を売っていることで有名なショッピングモールMBK（マーボンクロン）センターへ。買い物で少し疲れたので、コーヒーでも飲もうかと店を探していると、見慣れたSTARBUCKS の看板の一部が違ったロゴに変わったようにも？　
よく見るとSTAR BACK CAFE？ あれっ？どうも違う店らしい。
いくらコピー商品を売っていることで有名なMBKセンターでも、まさか店名までコピーとは？
しかも堂々と本家の隣で！
一瞬、入ろうかどうしようか迷ったが、結局どちらの店にも入らず、他の店に入ったので、味までは確認できなかったのですが・・・

I went to shopping to MBK (Ma Boon Khrong Center) last weekend and I was looking for a coffee shop for taking a break. I found a little bit strange logo next to popular green STARBUCKS.
After I looked carefully them and found it showed STAR BACK CAFÉ!!, and it was a different shops from original one.
I was a little bit surprised to see even in the famous MBK which sells many copy products. But I cannot imagine to copy of the shop’s name next to original shop!
Sorry, I cannot report on difference of tastes since I did not enter neither this time.

カオヤイ国立公園 週末日帰り旅行（４）番外編 おやつ；サラブリのカレーパフ / One day trip to Khao Yai national park (4), Extra topics "Curry puff" in Sanaburi

バンコクからカオヤイに向かう途中のサラブリという町の名物のカレーパフ。
パイ生地のようなものの中に、カレー味の鶏肉やジャガイモなどで作ったペースト状の具を包んで焼いたもので、鶏肉味、玉子味、マッシュルーム味など色んな種類がある。また、甘いパイン、タロイモ、イチゴ等の固めのジャムのようなものを包んで焼いたものもあり、スナック感覚で食べられる。

Just middle of on the way to Khao Yai from Bangkok, Saraburi is a town of famous snack, Curry puff. A curry puff is a snack fried pie or puff filled with pasted curry or seasoning chicken or other ingredient with potatoes or some sweet jam by taro, pineapple or strawberry and so on. So you can enjoy easily as snacks.
Since price of one piece was only THB 6, so even a box with ten pieces in which I selected many kinds but only THB 60!

一つ６バーツで、色々な種類を選んで、１０個箱に積めてもらっても６０バーツ。
このサラブリ、バンコクから１００ｋｍくらいでちょうどカオヤイとの中間にあたり、小腹のすいた時のスナックとしてちょうど良い感じ。またあの町を通ったら買いたいなあ。

The Saraburi is located about 100km north east from Bangkok, and the curry puff is very nice for snack when we feel a little bit hungry. I wonder I would like to buy again when I would pass nearby.
