プラユート司令官の施政演説放送（英語字幕つき）/ Televised announcement on political road map by Gen Prayuth

５月３０日の夜１０時頃、タイの放送が一斉に切り替わり、軍事政権（平和秩序委員会National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)）のプラユート司令官の放送がいつものように突然始まった。またタイ語で何を言っているのか解からないだろうと思いつつも見ると、今回は英語の字幕がついている。
これは重要な放送だと思い字幕を見ていると、国民に軍事政権化での今後のスケジュールを説明し国民への協力を求めるとともに、欧米を中心とした外国に対しても、民主主義を認めるが、国の正常化には時間がかかるので暫くの軍事政権を認めて欲しいとの内容も。ＣＮＮやＢＢＣ、ＮＨＫ等の海外メディアの放送を停止して、タイに住んでいる外国人の不安が高まるなど外国からの批判が高まっていることへの対応で一定の評価はできるが、やはり海外メディアの放送を再開してもらいたいなあと思った。

Around 10 p.m on 30 May 2014, all Thai broadcasting programe changed a televised announcement on political road map by Gen Prayuth, chief of National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), and I was thinking it could be difficult to understand his Thai as usual, but I found this time was with English subtitle.
I thought it could be very important announcement and I found he explained road map to normalize Thai and ask to people for their cooperation, also explained to foreign countries that they need to time although they understand importance of democracy.
It could be to cope to criticism on shutting down of foreign broadcasting such as CNN, BBC and NHK, it made annoyed foreigners staying in Thai.
I thought it could be appreciated but broadcastings are still suspended.

ラヨーン県、週末日帰り旅行（その２）ラヨーン水族館/ One-day trip to Rayong province (２) Rayong aquarium

観光農園でお腹いっぱいになったので、少々腹ごなしも兼ねて ラヨーン水族館へ。きれいなビーチのあるサメット島への船が出ているバーンフェの港近くの岬にあるローカルな水族館。入場料には珍しく外国人価格はなく、大人３０バーツ、１５歳以下の子供は１０バーツという格安の価格。これは、この施設が、タイ国立水生生物研究所と同じ敷地にあって、子供たちへの教育施設という意味もあるのからかもしれない。また、タイの国鉄などの乗りものや観光地の子供料金は、身長１４０ｃｍとか１５０ｃｍという身長で決められているところが多いが、この施設の年齢制限はやはり教育的な意味からかもしれない。

Since we felt full of stomach with fruits, we visited a Rayong aquarium for digesting fruit before next meal. The aquarium located on a cape near Baan phe peer which is popular to beatiful a Samd island with beautiful beach. Entrance fee is very cheap such as for adults THB30 and for children below 15 years is THB 10 and no foreigner's extra fee (which is common in Thai tourist spot). It could be because this facility is located in national research center for marine animals, ant this facility could be established for some educational purpose.
Also children fee is divided by age is quite unique in Thai since many children fees are decided by body size such as 140cm or 150cm height as of national railways or other tourists spots such as fruit garden which we visited in the morning. This could be also educational purpose?

施設はそれほど大きくはないが、タイの海に住んでいる、クマノミや海がめなどを中心に展示してあり、タイの海にはどんな魚が泳いでいるのかわかり易く展示してあり、外国人にも十分に楽しめる施設になっている。危険な生物(dangerous species) と絶滅危惧種(endangered species) を並べて展示してあったのは、ちょっとしたタイ人の遊び心？
建物の外に出ると、海を挟んでサメット島が見え、また横の舟溜まりでのんびりと係留された漁船を見るのも楽しい。
この施設だけのためにわざわざバンコクから出かけるほどではないが、サメット島への行き帰りや、他の観光地に行った際のちょっとした時間調整に行く分には十分楽しると思う。

The facility is not so large but I was very interested in to see displayed fishes and animals which are commonly seen in Thai ocean such as anemone fish or sea turtle and I recognized many fishes actually living in Thai ocean. It could be joking for displaying “ dangerous species” and “endangered species” side by side?
You can see Samed island from the back of the building and fishermen s' boats floating in small port.
I can say it could not so valuable destination if you came to visit only this aquarium from Bangkok but it is good place when you come to on or back way to Samed island or other ｓｕｒｒｏｕｎｄｉｎｇ tourist spots for one hour or so.

ラヨーン県、週末日帰り旅行（その１）スパートラ観光果樹園/ One-day trip to Rayong province (1); Tourist fruit garden, Suphattra Land

クーデターから２日経った先週末の５月２４日、以前から計画していたラヨーン県への日帰り旅行、中止にしようか少し迷ったが、市民生活は平穏だし、郊外のほうがバンコクより安全のようなので、予定通りに出かけてきた。
暑い日が続くこの時期は、ドリアンやマンゴーが美味しい季節であることは何度か書いて、その味は楽しんでいるが、実際にドリアンやマンゴスティンが木になっているところをまだ見たことがなかったので（マンゴーはバンコク市内のあちこちで見ることができるが）、果実の産地であるラヨーン県の観光農園を訪ねることにした。

Just two days after coup d'état, I was a little bit hesitated to go or not to go planned one-day trip to Rayong province, finally I decided to go since ｕｓｕａｌ life seemed calm and countryside could be much safer than Bangkok. I have already wrote hottest season would be most tasty season to some tropical fruits such as durian, mango or mangostin in my other articles. However I have never seen actual durian or mangstin fruits on their tress (mango on the tree can be seen everywhere even in the city of Bangkok), I planed to visit a tourist fruit garden famous fruit area of Rayong province.

目指したのは、バンコクから約２００ｋｍ東にあるスパートラ観光農園、ドリアン等の果樹園の中をカートで案内してもらい、もぎたてのフルーツを食べることができる、タイには珍しい観光果樹園（だと思う）。渋滞を避け６時３０分にバンコク市内を出発し、９時過ぎに農園に着くと、すでに観光バスなどでやって来たタイ人の団体客等で結構ごった返していた。切符を買い（外国人は４００バーツ、タイ人は３００バーツ）、次々にやってくるカートに適当に乗り込めば、運転手がマイクで園内を、ゆっくりと案内しながら、最初の果物食べ放題コーナーまで連れて行ってくれる。
運転手の説明は基本的にタイ語のようだが、我々が乗り込んだカートの運転手は、少し日本語がわかるようで簡単な説明を日本語でもしてくれた。

　　

ドリアンの木と果実/ Durian tree and fruit

I visited a tourist orchard named Suphattra Land which is located about 200km east from Bangkok. In the garden, we can ride on a tramcar in which a driver explain the orchard and we can enjoy season's fruits all we can eat. My family and I left our apartment on 06:30 for avoiding traffic jam. When we arrived there just after 9 o'clock, I saw many Thai group tourists had already arrived by 　 reserved bus and in front of ticket counter was a little bit messed. Admission fare is THB 400 for foreigners and THB 300 for Thai people. We can just get on a tramcar which is coming one by one in a short time and driver of the tramcar explained details of the orchard on the way to the first corner where we can enjoy season's fruits including durian. The explanation by the driver is basically Thai but a car driver we got on was very kindly explained in simple Japanese when he noticed we are Japanese.

果物食べ放題のコーナーでは、ドリアンを次々と目の前で剥いてくれたり、マンゴスチンやマンゴ、サラなどの旬の果物を食べ放題で楽しむことができる。
園内のドリアンはほとんどがモントーン種のようなので（ガーンヤオも園内には少しだけあったが）、食べたのもほとんどモントーンだと思う（剥いているお兄さんに聞いたがよくわからなかった）。今回いくつかのドリアンを食べ比べてみたが、もぎたてとはいえ、熟れ具合等で果実ごとにかなりの差があり、やはりドリアンは当たり外れが大きいなあと再認識。

At the counter, workers provided fresh fruits for ready to eat by peeling durins, mangos, mangostins etc. and we can enjoy to eat as we like. Regarding to durian, main variety could be Monthong, although a few Gan Yao also planted in the orchard, but main variety seemed to be Monthong, (I tried to confirm the variety to young man who peeled out our durinas but he did not answer on the variety). I found variation of each fruit I tried and I understood that to select the best durian which is best time and best condition must be very difficult for even to Thai people.

マンゴスチンやマンゴーなども一通り楽しんだら、すっかりお腹がいっぱいになったので、またカートに乗ってぶどう園などを見たのち、今度は青パパイアの千切りをベースにしたサラダ、ソムタム食べ放題コーナーに移動。ソムタム用の木製ボウルと杵で若いパパイアやトマト、ピーナッツなどを叩してサラダを作ってくれる。あまり辛くしないでと頼んで、３本入れようとした唐辛子を１本にしてもらったが、それでもかなり辛くて汗だくに。

I felt full of stomach with many other tropical fruits such as mangostin and mango and etc. , then got on an other tramcar for visiting next place where we can eat Somtam, green young papaya salad. At the counter, ladies on the counter was cooking salads according to guest's requests, so I ordered not so spicy by asking her to put small one chilli fruit since she tried to put in three chillis in the salad. Even so, that was pretty hot! And I sweated very well.

最後に果樹園の中に放しているミツバチの巣箱と蜂蜜コーナーで、蜂蜜の試食・試飲をして園内ツアーが終わって入り口に戻ってきた。
食べ放題コーナーなどの滞在時間にもよるが、我々はドリアンをいっぱい食べたこともあって満腹になって３時間以上、結構楽しめて満足した。
お客さんは日本人を含め外国人もちらほら見かけたが、ほとんどがタイ人のようで、結構タイ人もこういった観光農園が好きなんだなあと認識した。

And then, I visited a honey corner in there we can see actual bee hives and taste fresh honey and then returned to the entrance place. We enjoyed more than 3 hours and we tasted a couple of durian and other many tropical fruits then I was very satisfied with this garden. Also I could recognize Thai people loves much such kind of nature and tourist orchard.

園内で取れた、各種果物をお土産に買って帰ることもでき、今回はパイナップルを買ったら1kg１５バーツということで、結構大きなパイン１個約１．５ｋｇ、22バーツで改めて果物の安さを実感。
タイは一年中、何らかの果物がなっているが、それぞれの果物の旬の時期は異なっているので、もし出かけるなら、観光農園のＨＰ( http://www.suphattraland.com/index.php) でお目当ての果実の時期を見て（タイ語だけど、大体雰囲気でわかる）、出かけると良いだろう。

You can buy and take fresh fruits and other souvenirs to your home if you like. I bought a couple of pineapples which cost only THB 22 per fruit (around 1.5 kg) since it was THB 15 per kg. The price of tropical fruits is amazing. Although the garden offers many kind of fruits all year long but if you have any favorite fruit so it is recommended to check web page of the garden

反政府デモの拠点、民主記念塔周りの道路が開通/ Reopened The Democratic Monument and surrounding roads

先週のクーデターによってデモ隊が去り、その後の清掃も週末に終わり、昨年の１１月中旬以来反政府グループによる占拠が続いていた民主記念塔及びその周辺の道路（ラチャダムノンクラン通りやラチャダムノンノック通り）が、ようやく通れるようになった。
先週まで、ここを迂回し、日々変わる交通規制と渋滞に悩まされていたが、半年振りにやっとここが通れるようになった。まだ、ここが開通したことを知らない人も多かったのか、今日は以前より空いていた感じ。このまま元に戻ってくれるいいなあ。

The Democratic Monument and surrounding roads such as Ratchadamnoen Klang and Ratchadamnoen Nok which had been occupied by anti-government protestants more than a half year have been opened after they had left by the coup d'état and clened up.
Until last week, we needed to detour this place and we had been annoyed heavy traffic jam by every day changing blocked roads and traffic rules. Today I was able to run through the monument with a little car in early morning since not so much people noticed. I wonder such smooth traffic can be continued.

えっ？クーデター？/Really? Coup d'état?

タイでは本日５月２２日、半年以上続いたデモ等による混乱の収束のため軍が国の全権を掌握したとして実質上のクーデター宣言が行われた。
２日前に戒厳令が公布され一旦緊張が高まったものの、官庁街の公園でエアロビを楽しむ人や屋台で食事する人（小学生のような子供も）の感じも普段と変わらず、さすがタイの戒厳令は緩やかだなあと思っていた。

Today, 22 May 2014 in Thailand, Army has declared a coup d'état by capturing national sovereign rights for settling conflicts more than half year. Once tension was heightened when a marshal low was imposed two days ago but I found many Thai people were enjoying their lives as usual such as playing aerobics in a park or eating breakfast at street vender surprisingly even elementary students.
And I was thinking a marshal law in here seems typical Thai style.

今日の夕方も、たまたま帰宅途中に国防省の横をタクシーで通りかかったら、多少、兵士の数が多いかなあというぐらいで、国防省の建物をバックに結婚写真を撮っている人などもいて、のんびりした雰囲気だった。
でも、それから１時間ぐらい後に、クーデター宣言が出てびっくり。その後、夜間外出禁止令や放送局の放送規制等が矢継ぎ早に行われ、今、少しずつクーデターの中にいる実感がしてきた。
今は流血などの騒乱にならないこととスムーズな民政への移行を祈るばかり。

When I passed by a building of Ministry of Defense, I noticed number of solders could be increased slightly with newly implemented the Marshall law. But also I found a couple who were taking wedding pictures with back drop of the building of Ministry of Defense in relax atmosphere.
And then, I was supposed to know that declaration of coup d'état was occurred just after one hour later and a curfew and control of broadcasting has been imposed in a short time. I recongnised we are now in the coup d'état. I only hope no brood shed will be happened from now.

上級者向けドリアン？ガーンヤオ。タリンチャン水上マーケットにて/ Not for beginners Durian variety, Gan Yao at Taling Chan floating market

ドリアンについては、タイに来てからも何度か記事にしたし（１２年９月、１３年５月）、マレーシアで出会った猫山王というドリアンについても記事にしたことがあった。タイは、モントーン（金色の枕という意味）という品種が、臭いも少なく上品な甘さで人気がある。私も、タイに来て、久しぶりにドリアンを食べた時、これなら食べやすいと思ったし、食べごろのものなら日本から来たお客さんにも薦められると思っていた。
ところが、最近知り合いのタクシーの運転手から、ガーンヤオというドリアンを食べ見ろと薦められ、タリンチャンの水上マーケット（前に行った時の記事はこちら）に、週末に連れて行ってもらった。モントーンに比べると、最初は臭いは強いように感じたが、口に含んでその濃厚な味わいに触れると、臭いを感じなくなるのが不思議。
このガーンヤオ、収量が安定しにくくて割高な上、あまりまとまった産地もないようで、モントーンにくらべ手に入り難いらしい。
このマーケットに売りに来ていた人も、近くのノンタブリー県から売りに来ていたが、木になっているところを見てみたいと頼んでみたものの、近年の洪水で、多くの木がやらてしまい、ほとんど木になっていないという。
ガーンヤオとは、実がぶら下がるへた・柄（ガーン）が長い（ヤオ）という意味で、必ず買う時には長い柄を確認して買うのがよいとのこと。

I wrote some articles on durian in Thailand　(2012 Sep., 2013 May) as well as “Mao Shan Wang” variety in Malaysia since I came to Thailand. In Thailand, Monthong (meaning golden pillow) is the most popular variety since it has very few smell with elegant sweet taste. I was also surprised to find very few smell when I first tasted it, I wondered I could recommend it to Japanese guest even they tried first time when it could be best time.
However, since my friend of taxi driver recommended me to try to taste variety named Gan Yao, I asked him to take me to Taling Chan floating market (last article is here) where we could buy it. When I tried it, I felt some string smell first but I forgot smell after I touched rich taste of it once.
This variety however hasn't stable harvest and sizable production area, so it would be a little bit difficult to find in the market.
When I asked a hawker who came from near by Nontaburi province that I would like to see actual tree having fruit in an orchid, he replied there were very few trees in a orchid since many trees were damaged by floods recently.
Gan Yao means long stems which connects fruits and branches, so it seems better to confirm long stem with fruits when you buy this variety.

マーケット内の他の店で、マンゴスチンとマンゴー（今回は無限の幸運という意味のチョークアナン種だが、あまり見た目が良くなくて安かった）も買って、夕食は豪華なフルーツ三昧を楽しんだ。
ちなみに、体を温める効果があるドリアンは、体を冷やすマンゴスチンと併せて食べるのがよいと言われている。ドリアンの後にマンゴスチンを食べると後味も爽やかになってお勧め。

I bought mangostins and mangos (this time Chokanan variety) in another hawker in the market and I enjoyed fruit dinner in the evening.
It is said to eat mangostin which has function to cool down human body with durian which has effect to warm up human body, also sour taste is very well harmonious to durian's taste.

行商のほうき売り/a broom peddler

道を歩いていると、オートバイの前の荷台に色々な形のほうきを積んだほうき屋さんが、スピーカーから何か掛け声をかけながらゆっくり走ってきた。多分タイ語で「ほうき！ほうき！」とか言っているんだろう。しばらくすると、お客さんが出てきて箒を選び始めた、結構需要があるのかなあ？
そういえば、こどものころ、「たけやー、さおだけー」と言いながら、物干し竿を売ってあるく竿屋さんの掛け声に似ているようで懐かしい気持ちになった。

I found a broom peddler passing by slowly with many kind of brooms loaded on the carrier in front of his motorbike. He spoke out something in Thai through a speaker on his bike, it might be something like “Broom! Broom!”. Then a customer approached his bike for selecting a broom, his shops seems popular in these area.
I remembered a calling by peddler who sold clothes pole “Bamboo!, Bamboo pole!” which I heard in my childhood days. The tone of two calling sounds something similar and I had a something nostalgic feeling.

セミ時雨のシーフードレストラン in Samui/ At a Sea-food restaurant by hearing cicada song in Samui

サムイ島チャウエンのシーフードレストランで夕食を楽しんだ。少し早めに店に着いたこともあり、木陰のオープンエアの席を店員さんに案内された。夕闇があたりを包み始めた頃、ふと気がつくと周りはけっこうなセミの声が。

I enjoyed dinner at a seafood restaurant at Chaweng in Samui isalnd. As I arrived at the restaurant a little bit earlier and then I was recommended a table under trees in open air. When darkness of evening surrounded us I noticed song of cicada was started around us.

タイのセミは、真夏の夜明け前か夕闇の頃に鳴いていることが多い。そして、３０分か１時間もすれば、さっきまでの鳴き声はうそのようにピタッと鳴きやんでしまう。よろしければ、ひと時、タイのセミの鳴き声を楽しんで下さい。

In Thailand, cicada sings their song before dawn or after sunset in hottest season, I suppose, and just after 30-60 min. they stop singing. Please listen their recorded song in You-tube, if you like.

今日は仏誕節で、酒類販売禁止だけど・・/ Today, Visakha Bucha day and no alcohol day, but

今日、５月１３日は、仏誕節・ヴィサカブーチャ（陰暦６月の満月の日）。お釈迦様の生誕と悟りと仏滅が重なった大変重要な日で、タイは祝日。さらに敬虔な仏教国であるタイでは、酒類の販売禁止日。

Today, 13 may 2014 is a Visakha Bucha day and a Buddhist festival to commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and death of Buddha Gautama and it is a very important religious festival and is a public holiday in Thailand. And sales of alcoholic beverages is banned all day long.

いつもは昼間から店の外まで賑わっているパブも客もまばら・・・、でも中は営業しているような？窓やドアのブライドを降ろして、中は見えないようにしているが、良く見ると営業中との文字も。さらに、どうしても外で飲みたい客には、ソフトドリンクなどを入れるような紙コップで・・・。

Today I found a very few people are in front of pubs where usually many guests are enjoying their drinks even high-noon. However I found inside of the pubs could be opened although blinds of windows and doors were closed but letters on the paper “we are open” could been seen!
And also for the guests who would like to drink outside, it could be served in paper cup which is usually for soft-drink.

敬虔な仏教徒に見せない工夫で、なんとか大目に見てもらっているのか、なんともタイらしい柔軟な対応。
この営業熱心なお店に敬意を表して、我々もそっと乾杯。（だって今日は本当に暑かったから・・、仏様も許してくれるでしょう）。

It could be maximum compromise not for showing alcohol to religious Thai people in the precious day, so I am a little bit delighted.
I ordered a cup of beer for showing my courtesy to shop owner's flexibility, and I believe Buddha may allow me since today was truly too hot.
And then I found very beautiful sun set in the west sky.

珊瑚と熱帯魚in Samui/ Tropical fish and Coral in Samui island

サムイ島の中でも珊瑚と熱帯魚が比較的良く見られるという北ラマイの岩場に建つホテルに泊まって、ホテル下の岩場の浅いところをシュノーケリング。珊瑚の周りを小さな魚が泳いでいるのを見ることができたが、浜辺には死んだ珊瑚の姿も。

I stayed in a Hotel at North- Ramai beach in Samui Island where we can see tropical fish and coral and tried to watch them by snorkeling. I was able to see some small fishes around living corals but also I found dead corals on the shore too..

自分の泊まっているホテルの開発によるものなのかなあ？なんか複雑な気持ち。

サムイ島で週末/ Long weekend in Samui island

金曜日が休日になったので、週末をのんびり過ごすため、タイ湾の入り口に浮かぶサムイ島に。バンコクから約1時間のフライトで、飛行機を降りると、のんびりしたバス？で空港ビルへ、リゾート気分が。

Since I can have a holiday in Friday, then I came to Samui Island located at the mouth of Siam gulf for enjoying long weekend. After about one-hour flight from Bangkok, I found a tiny charming bus was waiting us for carrying to airport terminal, and I was a little bit excited to be at resort.

島はココナツの高さ以上のビルを建ててはいけないらしく、ヴィラタイプのホテルが多く、全体的にのんびりした感じで自然の景観が楽しめる。ビーチを見ながらシーフードでお腹を満たしたら、岬の先で少しだけ海でシュノーケリングに挑戦、もう少し珊瑚が見られるかと思ったが、岩が多くて少し残念・・・

I heard it is prohibited to make building higher than coconut tree, so we can enjoy natural scene in peaceful country side. After I enjoyed seafood lunch by watching beach, I tried to enjoy snorkeling at the point of small peninsula. I was expected to find coral but not so much and many rocks, so I was a little bit disappointed.

最初にお断りしておくが、この記事、残念ながら乗車記録ではなく、単に街で見かけただけの記事です。でも見かけただけでも・・
昨日、帰宅途中、踏み切りで列車が通るのを待っていると、見慣れない列車が通りかかった。タイにもこんな綺麗な列車が走ってるんだと思いながらよく見てみると、なんとオリエント急行（正式にはイースタン・オリエンタルエクスプレス）。慌てて、iPhoneを取り出して、なんとか最後尾のオープンエアーの展望車のところだけ撮ることができた。
バンコクからシンガポールまでの３泊４日の旅などが楽しめ、オリエント急行を名乗るこの列車、鉄道ファンの間ではかなり有名な列車だとか。私は特に鉄道ファンというほどではないが、乗ってみたいと思い一度調べたことがあったけど、月に２，３度しか運行していない上、料金は最低でも１人２０万円以上かかると知り諦めたことがあった。
バンコクに住んでいても、滅多にお目にかかれないこの列車、見られただけでもラッキーと思いつつ、やっぱり見てみるといつか乗ってみたいなあと思ってしまった。

Please don't misunderstand this not on board article but just to watch a train, but I think it is very unique experience.
I found an unfamiliar train was passing by at railway crossing on my back way home. I was little bit surprised to see such an elegant train was running in here in Bangkok and soon I recognized it was an Eastern & Oriental Express. I took a photo of last coach of the train which is open air panorama coach by my iPhone urgently.
It is very famous train to offer 2nights 3day elegant trip from Bangkok to Singapore. I used to check its schedule and fares for considering possibility to enjoy it but found it could be difficult to enjoy　 it since it offers only 2-3 times in a month and costs more than USD 2,000 for one person.
I understood it could be very luck event to see the Orient Express in Bangkok, but I also felt I would like to enjoy a journey by this train someday.

突然の花火/ Sudden fire-works in Bangkok

タイ人はとても花火好きらしい。しかも、見るだけでなく、自分で上げるのも、好きらしい。
大晦日のカウントダウンや国王誕生日などは、バンコク市内のあちこちから花火がうち上げられ、どうも個人で上げていると思われるような花火があちこちから打ち上げられる。また特別の日でなくても、個人の庭や広場から突然花火が打ち上げられるのを、時々、目にすることがある。

Thai people seems to love fireworks very well not only to watch but also to display it by themselves. We can see many fireworks displayed from everywhere in special days such as New year's eve or King's birthday and I suppose some fireworks were displayed by privately.
Also sometimes, I can watch fireworks fired from private garden or fields for celebrating private memorial day such as family birthday or wedding anniversary.

昨日も、１０時半を回って、そろそろ寝ようかなと思っていたら、近くで、いきなりドーンと大きな音が・・。あれ何か爆発​？と思っていると、すぐ近くの一軒家の庭から 次々と花火が。どうやらパーティをやっていて、庭から花火を打ち上げているらしい。多分、誕生日とか、結婚記念日とか何かのパーティらしい。こちらでは、こういった目出度いことをやる時間（例えば、車の走り始めとか結婚式の開始時間）は、占い師に決めてもらうことが多いらしいので、きっと花火の時間も占い師に決めてもらって、こんな時間になったのだと思う。
こちらの花火は、日本の花火よりも随分低いところで開くので、ちょうど１９階の我が家の目の前で、次々と開く花火を思いがけず楽しませてもらった（映像は一部だけですが、多分１０分近く上がっていたと思う）。
でもこの花火、日本に比べれば安いのかもしれないが、これだけ上げるとなると相当の金額になるのだろうと思う。考えかたの違いもあるだろうけど、タイ人の金持ちは、日本人とはスケールが違うなあと感じた次第。

Last night, when I was in my room in relax and just thinking to go to bed around 22:30, I was suppressed with very big noise like blast. After just I thought it might be bomb, I realized fireworks were launched from a garden of mansion just near by and they could have a party.
I heard many Thai people decided precise time for happy event such as first engine start of new car or start time of wedding ceremony by fortune teller, so this firework time could be also decided bya fortune teller.
Fireworks were also opened very lower place than Japan, I cold see them just in front of me from my room on 19th floor. (Attached video is just a some portion and total fireworks was around 10mintues, I suppose.)
I think cost for this fireworks could be sizable although fireworks in here could be cheaper than in Japan. I wonder way of thinking in rich people in Thai could be completely different from people in Japan but even so, rich Thai people could be much richer than in Japan?

地元のマンゴー・オクロン種/ Local Mango variety Okrong

バンコクの一番暑い今の季節がマンゴーの旬の季節でもある。マンゴーの品種といえば、甘くて見栄えのするナムドクマイ（花の雫の意）が日本にも輸出されていて有名だが、タイ人に言わせるとオクロンのほうが美味しいという。このオクロン、ナムドクマイに比べると、少し小粒で、表面にシワがあり（シワのあるのが食べごろとか）、見た目はお世辞にも良いとは言えない。流通量が少ない上、痛みやすく輸送に向かないので、バンコクでもあまり手に入らず、残念ながら日本には輸出されてないらしい。

右の一つがナムドクマイ種、左側がオクロン種/ right side (one piece) is Namdorkmai var. and left side are Okrong var.

Now, it is the best season to taste delicious mango and also the hottest time in here in Bangkok. Namdorkmai (meaning “ dew of flower”) is the most popular variety of mango in Thailand as it has rich sweet taste and good shaping also exported to Japan. But some Thai people insist that Okrong must be best taste. Okrong is a little bit smaller than Namdorkmai and it has many wrinkles on surface so it is difficult to say good looking, but wrinkles means good time to eat. It seems difficult to find this variety even in Bangkok since total production amount is limited and transportation is difficult since it is easy to be decayed. And Okrong cannot be to export to Japan.

香りがよくて、甘みに加え酸味やマンゴー特有のエグ味が程よくあり、味が濃いので、カオニャオマムアン（蒸したもち米とココナッツミルクと合わせたもの）で食べるのが最高とのこと。
この時期にしか買えないと教えてもらい、早速、トンローの果実店に早朝から買いに行ってみた。店にはナムドクマイはいっぱい並んでいたが、オクロンは丁度、市場から届いて今から並べるところという。傷かつかないよう細かく切った新聞紙ととともに籠の中に詰められたオクロンが、次々と運び込まれて来たので、早速買ってきてカオニャオマムアンでその濃厚な味を楽しんだ。
８個購入して、約１．７ｋｇ・２６０バーツ（１個２００ｇ前後で１５０バーツ／ｋｇ）、ナムドクマイがｋｇあたり８０～１３０バーツで売られていたので、かなり高価だが、それだけの価値はあると思った。
ちなみに、家族で食べたが、我が家の子供は「ナムドクマイのほうが好きかな？」と、子供には少し酸味やエグ味が強く感じられたのかもしれない。

Since it has good aroma and rich taste with sweet, sour taste and harshness, it is said to be most suitable to eat as Khaaw Niao Mamuang (mango with steamed sticky rice with coco-nut milk).
I was informed we can buy a Okrong only this time, so I visited a fruit shop near Thong-lo station in this early morning. When I arrived the shop I could find many Namdorkmai on showcases but not Okrong. Shop-owner said Okrong was just coming from a market and started for displaying at that time. I could found many Okrong fruits in a basket with small cut newspaper preventing to be damaged. I bought some and enjoyed rich tastes of Khaaw Niao Mamuang.
I bought eight peaces for THB 260 (about 1.5 kg; each fruit is around 200g and THB150/kg ) . I found price of Namdorkmai are THB 80-130/kg in same shop, so Okrong is quite expensive than Namdorkmai but I suppose it has good value of price.
I enjoyed this variety with my family, but my son said he preferred taste of Namdorkmai than Okrong. I think rich taste of Okrong with some sour taste and harshness could be difficult for children.

ちなみに、オクロン（英語のcleavageに相当し、裂け目とか谷間(女性の胸の）という意味らしく）、果実のわずかな窪みが、その名の由来とか？だけど、その窪み、今回買ったものではあまり良く分からなかった。わずかな窪みがあるようにも見えるが・・・これが胸の谷間なら、少しタイの女性に失礼かも？

Meaning of Okrong is cleavage (of woman’s) and name could be come from groove on the edge of the fruit. But I could not find groove clearly of the fruits that I bought today. I wonder very slight groove might be found, but was it cleavage? It could be very difficult to say that would be cleavage to Thai ladies, couldn't it?
