セブンイレブンのスタンプキャンペーン/ Stamp campaign of Seven-Eleven

バンコクで生活していると何かとお世話になるセブンイレブン。今、スタンプキャンペーンをやっている。すでに７月の末からやっているので新しいニュースでもないし、聞くと１０年以上やっていてタイではすっかり定着している。買い物をすると５０バーツ毎にタイ各地の名産品を印刷したスタンプ（昔はドラえもんシールだったりもしたらしい）が貰え、集めた枚数で希望の商品と交換できる。
さらに、キャンペーン商品（２つ買ったり特定の組み合わせでシールが６枚貰えるなどで、対象商品が時々変わる）があり、レジで「これをもう一つ買うとシールが一杯出ますよ」などと言われ（多分？）、ついつい買わされてしまう。
商品だなやポスターにはキャンペーン商品のお知らせが。

Seven-eleven, truly convenience for my Bangkok life, is now campaigning stamp collection. It started from end of July and has more than ten year history, I heard, so it is not breaking news. You can get a stamp each THB 50 shopping. The stamps are showing many famous products around Thai and used be printed on Dorae-mon (Japanese cartoon character). You can get novelty goods according to number of collected stamps.
When you buy special goods in specified number or combination, which changes time by time, you can get bonus stamps. Sometimes shop keeper recommends me to buy special good by saying “ When you buy one more of this, you can get much stamps” and I tend to buy more.
At the showcase or a poster on wall shows today's special goods.

このシール、集めるのが面倒だと思えばセブンイレブン内で金券（１枚１バーツ）としても使えるようで、このあいだなどは、店のシールが切れていたのか、店員さんに「その分ディスカウントしておきましたから」と勝手にディスカウントされてしまった。あるいは、店内の専用の用紙に貼れば寺院等に寄付（タンブン）できる仕組みになっているようで、こういうところは、いかにも仏教の盛んなタイらしい。
我が家で集めていることを知って、同僚の人からも時々タンブンされて、結構集まってきた。さて今年は何に換えようか。

If you are not so interested in collecting stamp, you can use it as money; 1stamp is THB 1. Once I was told by shop keeper “ I have already discounted your charge instead of giving you stamps”, it seemed they did not have stamps in shop at that time. Or you can stick stamps on special poster on the wall for donating temples. It could be typical Thai style in religious Buddhist county.
I sometimes get “donation” from my colleagues since they know My family is collecting stamps. So I should decide what good shall I get this year.

アンパワー水上マーケットと蛍鑑賞/Amphawa Floating Market and firefly watching tour

バンコクの西、約８０ｋｍサムットソンクラーム県にあるアンパワー水上マーケットは週末だけのマーケット。新鮮なシーフード等を求めバンコクからも多くの人が訪れている。私たちは午後の３時にバンコクを出発し、アンパワーの市場を散策した後、ボートで水辺の蛍を見に行くツアーに参加した。
市場には屋台やお店が並び、食べ歩きや水路に面した道路に置かれたテーブルに座って前の小船で焼いてくれるシーフードを食べることができる。
今回食べたのは、マッドクラブ（ノコギリガザミ）２匹（１５０バーツ）、手長エビ５匹（１７０バーツ）、ヒオウギ貝のような貝（５０バーツ）、特にマッドクラブが美味しかった。
日が暮れてくると、いよいよ蛍を見るために、約１時間のボートツアーに出発。
船頭さんは、蛍の集まっている木（暗くてよく分からないが、マングローブの木と思う）を探しては、徐行してくれるので、船上から蛍の点滅をゆっくり楽しむことができる。日本の蛍より点滅する間隔が短く、チカチカっという感じ。点滅が同調しているので、漆黒の闇に浮かぶクリスマスツリーの電飾のよう。デジカメで動画も撮ってみたが、到底この綺麗さは表現できていない。是非、直接自分の目で見て頂くことをお勧めしたい。

Amphawa Floating Market in Samut Songkran province is located about 80km south west from Bangkok and operated only week end evening. Many people visits from Bangkok for tasting fresh sea foods. I joined a tour by Japanese company which started from Bangkok at 3 pm and could enjoy shopping at the market before riding on boat for watching firefly on waterfront tree. In the market you can buy meals, clothes, souvenirs and so on from street venders and stores and you can order sea food dishes cooked in floating boat from a table on the alley facing canal. I ordered mud crab (THB 150 for 2 pieces), fresh water prawn (THB 170 for 5 peaces) and scallop (THB 50 ) all dishes were delicious particularly mud crab.
Then we started for about one hour boat tour for watching fireflies on the tree from canal. Boatman kindly searched special trees, I could not see well but it could be mangroves, and slowed down a engine for watching firefly's flickering well. Interval of flickering is much shorter than Japanese firefly and and it was seen like a Christmas tree since it was synchronized. I tried to take a footage in a video but it was impossible to present actual wonderful scene. I truly recommend you come to and watch actual scene by yourself.

バンコク カーフリーデー/Bangkok Car Free Day campaign

車による交通渋滞と大気汚染がひどいバンコクで、自家用車の利用を減らして、自転車や公共交通機関を利用しようというカーフリーデーキャンペーンが９月２２日(日)、バンコク市内で行われた。
王宮前広場から市内中心部まで、２万人近いサイクリストが参加してパレードを行なったり、５０バーツのバッジで、BTSスカイトレイン、地下鉄、ボート、バスなどが１日乗り放題になる取り組みがおこなわれた。
ただこのバッジ、区役所や一部の駅の施設等、買える場所が限られている上、私が購入したBTSプロンポン駅のBangkok Express Service centre (２枚目の写真）では、１回切符を買って改札内に入らないと買えないとあって、ちょっと考えもの。折角なので、BTS３回、ボートに１回、バスにも２回乗って市内をぐるっと回ってショッピングを楽しみ、十分に元はとったので、まあよしとしよう。この取り組み、月に１回の行おうとの構想もあるらしく、実現すればもっと利用者も増えると思う。
下の写真は、BTSの駅でバッジを見せて発行してもらった通行券。バスやボートではバッジを見せればそのまま乗ることができた。

Bangkok Car Free Day campaign was organized on Sunday September 22nd for promoting to use public transport and bicycle in Bangkok where heavy traffic jam and serious air pollution caused by cars.
In the campaign, parade by nearly twenty thousand cyclists from near the Royal palace to down town was demonstrated and one-day free budge (pin) for which passengers could buy only THB 50 and use all BTS sky-train, subway, public boat and bus all day long.
However, this budge can be bought very limited place as district office or limited facilities in BTS station. When I bought it at Bangkok Express Service (BES) centre in BTS Phrom phong station(second picture), I needed to buy a ticket once to reach the BES centre, so it was very inconvenient.
I enjoyed shopping in many places through Bangkok using BTS (three time), boat (once) and bus (twice), it was very valuable. I heard it could be considered to operate regularly once a month, I hope it could be realized and much more people can participate.

The picture below is temporary tickets for BTS issued by station officer by showing budge. For getting in boat or bus, I only showed budge to car conductors.

タリンチャンの運河ツアー byロングテールボート/ Sightseeing canal tour by long tail boat in Taling Chang

タリンチャンの水上市場の桟橋から、２時間あまりの運河ツアーに参加した。外国人観光客もいるが、タイ人もけっこう多かった。
まず、桟橋横のブースでチケットを購入するが。他の屋台などに隠れて少し分かり難い。料金は大人９９バーツ、子供６０バーツだが、大人料金になるか子供料金になるかは、窓口のおばさんが子供の背を見て決定するので、すこし背が高いともう大人料金。

I enjoyed tourist boat visiting canals from Taling Chang pier about two hour long for which many Thai local people as well as foreign tourist joined.
First of all, I bought tickets at a ticket box little bit difficult to find since it is located behind of street vendors. The fare of tour is THB 99 for adult and THB 60 for child but a lady at counter seemed to able to decide child or adult by watching height of child so child of sizable height seems to be adult.

桟橋では、船頭さんの息子か？小さな子供も船に乗るのを手伝ってくれる。手軽な値段だからか、船はほぼ満席。できるだけ船の内側に座るように、時々船頭さんから注意される。ボートが細いので、船頭さんは常にバランスを気にしているようだ。運河に面した民家などを見ながらボートは進んでいく。

At the pier, small boy who may be son of boatman supports tourists for boarding a boat. The boat was full of passengers since the price could be reasonable. The boatman ordered passengers to be seated inside as much as possible as boatman always be careful for balance of boat since the boat is very smart. We can see residence house facing canal from boat.

途中、小船に乗ったアイスクリーム売りから、もち米を蒸したご飯入りアイス（１０バーツ）を買ったり、寺へのお参りや、ラン農家の畑を見学のために上陸してツアーは進んでいく。農家からランの鉢を買うことも出来、値段を聞くと４０～１５０バーツだったので、我が家は一番安い４０バーツのを買って家に飾っている。

We can buy an ice cream with boiled sticky rice (THB 10) from hawker on a small boat and land for visiting temple or orchid nursery during the tour. At the orchid farm, orchid can be purchased form THB 40-150 per pot, I bought a pot of THB 40 and I put it in my house.

ツアーの一つの山場が、ナマズへの餌やり。ナマズへのタンブン（お布施）ということで、食パンを買って、ボートから直接、運河に投げ込むと、待ち受けていたナマズが水面でパンを奪い合うので大変な騒ぎ。ボートの直ぐそばで、バシャバシャとはねるので、乗っているお客さんは頭から水をかぶってびしょ濡れに。このツアー、運河の水をかぶっても平気な服装でタオルを持って参加することをお勧めしたい。

Most excitement event during the tour could be feeding time for catfish from the boat. You can buy bread as a kind of donation and feed it to catfish. When you throw the bread from the boat huge number of catfishes fight and splash the surface of water for getting the bread and you may be wet by the water splashed by catfish. So I would like to recommend to wear casual clothes and bring towels if you would like to join this tour.

２時間あまりのこのツアー、ガイドさんはほとんどタイ語（時々英語）で喋り続け、最後はタイ民謡（？）のサービスまでついている。
Tour guide lady was keeping to speak in Thai (sometimes in English) during more than two hours and sang Thai folk songs, probably at last.

タリンチャン水上市場（１）/ Taling Chan Floating Market (1)

バンコクから市内バスで気軽行ける週末だけのタリンチャン水上市場。市内中心部のサイアムセンターやセントラルワールド（伊勢丹）前から７９番のバスで約３０分（１７バーツ 約５０円）で到着。水上市場といっても、浮き桟橋の上が、フードコートようになっていて、料理を注文すると周りの小船で調理したものを持ってきて来てくれる。バス通りから浮き桟橋の間までが、食べ物やお菓子、土産物などの屋台が並ぶ市場になっている。桟橋からは、運河ツアーのロングテールボートなどがひっきりなしに発着している。外国人観光客も見かけるが、週末のひと時をゆっくりと、周りを泳ぐなまずを見なが食事を楽しんでいる地元のタイ人も多い。近くの鉄橋からは子供たちがダイビングを楽しんでいる。
写真の料理の値段は、エビ焼き（２００バーツ）、サテ（串焼き豚）（８０バーツ）など地元にしてはやや高いかもしれないが、チャンビール大瓶６０THBは嬉しい、つい飲みすぎてしまいそう。１バーツ　約３．２円。
ロングテールボートの運河ツアーの話はまた後ほど。

Taling Floating market is easy accessible week end market from downtown Bangkok. You can go there by public bus No. 79 in around 30 minutes from center of Bangkok such as “ Sian Center” or “ Central World, Isetan department store”, fare is THB 17 (USD 0.5). It is said floating market but only a restaurant is located on floating pier and many small street hawkers are selling foods, sweets and souvenirs and so on along to a small allay to a pier and making a market.　At the restaurant you can order Thai dishes to waiters/waitress and they would bring dishes cooked in small boats floating around the pier, so the restaurant is like a small food court. From the pier, you can see many long tail boats of boat tour come and go frequently. Many Thai people as well as some foreign tourists are enjoying dishes in the calm afternoon by watching catfishes around the pier. The price of dishes of today, Charcoal grilled prawn THB 200, Satay; grilled pork, THB 80, and it could be a little bit expensive as a local food but price of a bottle of Chang Beer THB 60 is very happy to me and I am afraid to drink too much. 1USD is about 30THB.
Boys are enjoying to dive from a iron bridge over the canal.

　　

バンコクの中華街・ヤワラート通り/ China town in Bangkok /Yaowarat Road

バンコクの中華街、ヤワラート通りには、日本の中華街と同じく、中国食材を販売する店や中華料理店も多く軒を連ねているが、日本の中華街と大きく違っているのは、金行（銀行ではなく）という金の売買を行う店がずらっと並んでいるところ。華人系の人々は、財産を金で貯蓄する傾向が強いらしく、金が値下がりした時などは、大混雑になるらしい。我々日本人にとっては、なかなか手が出しづらく、我が家は中華街に行っても料理を楽しむことに専念。料理店も色々あり、日本で高級料理の燕の巣を屋台で売っていたりしてちょっと新鮮。

China town in Bangkok is located around Yaowarat Road and we can find many shops which sells Chinese food and materials and Chinese restaurant, it is similar to China town in Japan. However different scene from Japanese China town is that you can find much more goldsmith bankers in China town in Bangkok. I understand Chinese or Chinese Thai people prefer to have gold as their property so the goldsmith banker is very popular in here in Bangkok. I heard many people rushed to come to buy gold when the gold became cheaper recently. However I always concentrate to enjoy tasting Chinese food since I have not have enough knowledge of gold price. I can find many new things whenever I go to China town such as a street hawker who sell swallows nest dish which is very expensive in Japan.

　　　　

スープ・ソースの持ち帰り用ビニール小袋/ Soup or sauce for take away filled in small plastic bag tighten with rubber band

バンコクで、屋台などで持ち帰りの料理を頼むと、スープやソースなどの液体は、ビニールの袋をぷっくりと膨らませ輪ゴムでキッチリと縛ったものに入れてくれる。いとも簡単に作ってくれるが、家に帰って中の液体が漏れていたことは今まで一度もない。試しに、自分でもやってみたがなかなかこうはいかなくて、タイ人の手先の器用さをあらためて実感。写真は、カオマンガイ（煮鳥や鳥の唐揚のせチキンライス）を持ち帰りで頼んだ時のもの。本体は紙にくるむだけだが、スープと鶏に付ける甘辛いソースをビニール小袋に入れてくれる。
この小袋はどこでもつけてくれるので、タイの屋台売りの人は誰でもできるらしい。

When you order dish or snack in liquid or with liquid sauce to street hawker for take away, you will have soup or sauce filled in plastic bag tightened by rubber band with air. You can see they can fix it very easily and I have never experienced that liquid inside spilled out. However I find I cannot do it when I tried several times in same and I realized that Thai people are very clever with their hands. Please find some pictures shows Thai chicken rice with soup and sauce filled in plastic bag for take away. You can see this small plastic bag elsewhere.

マーブンクロンセンター(MBKセンター）/Mahboonkruong Center(MBK Center)

スカイトレイン（BTS)のナショナルスタディアム駅に隣接する MBKセンター、小さな携帯電話の小売店がぎっしりと軒を連ねていて、その数に圧倒される。電話番号のラッキーナンバーにこだわるタイ人向けに、ずらっと電話番号を並べて売っている。交渉している言葉を聞いていると、タイ人だけではなく中東や南アジア系の人々も買いに来ているようだ。このMBKセンター、４階の携帯やその周辺機器売り場が有名だか、ボーリング場や映画館、民芸品や衣類、等の雑貨商等もあり観光客がお土産を買うのにも結構便利。フードコートも日本食を含め各国料理が楽しめるやや高級なInternational（５階）とローカル中心のカジュアルなところ（６階）に分かれている。東急デパートも中に入っており、１日いても飽きない。ただし結構疲れるが。

MBK center, a shopping center, connect to National stadium station of Sky train (BTS), famous of many many small shops are selling mobile phones and relating items. You can find many shops are displaying available phone numbers for Thai people who prefer lucky number in it. I realized many foreigners from Near-east or South Asian coming to buy when I heard language in negotiating. Besides the mobile shops, there many facility and shops such as bowling center, cinema, cloth and ethnic folk products for souvenir. There are two different types of food court, one in 5th floor is a little bit elegant and expensive for international cuisine including Japanese dishes and the other is for local casual food court in 6th floor. There is also a Japanese department store “Tokyu” inside it.

　　

トンボの季節？in Bangkok/ Season of dragonfly in Bangkok?

バンコクでは普段はあまり見かけないトンボが、雨季の一時だけ良く見かけるようになる。上流からの土砂で、チャオプラヤの水の茶色が濃くなり、ホテイアオイが増えてくるに従い、チャオプラヤ川のほとりのトンボの数が増えてくるように感じる。このトンボずっと飛んでいてなかなか綺麗な写真がとれない上に、写真では群れているところがうまく伝えられなくて残念。後日、事務所の壁に止まっているトンボを写したが、やはりあまり良い写真でなくて残念。

Usually I cannot find dragonfly so common in Bangkok but in very limited period in rainy season in September I can see many dragonfly on the banks of Chao Phraya river. I feel number of dragonfly could increase according to increase of brown color of river by sediment and water hyacinth flow from upstream. I am regret to say I could not take good picture since they would not rest and picture could not represent well of actual crowd of dragonfly. I would like to upload good picture if I can take latrer. I attached a picture that I took afterward, but it is not so good.

マッカサン駅（エアポートリンク）/ Makkasan station on Airport link

空港とバンコク市内を結ぶエアポートリンクのマッカサン駅と地下鉄（ＭＲＴ）のペチャブリー駅との連絡が悪くお勧めできないことを以前記事に書いたが、８月上旬に高架連絡橋が完成し、随分便利になった（多少歩かないといけないが）。この高架連絡橋の完成を記念してか、構内にはＯＴＯＰ（タイ版一村一品運動）の臨時ブースやイベントも行われていて、随分と賑やかになった。マッカサン駅では、搭乗手続きや機内荷物のチェックイン（今はタイ航空だけで、まだ閑散としているが）もできるので、この駅を使う人が少しは増えそうな感じ。特に渋滞時にはエアポートリンクのメリットが大きいので利用客も少し増えるかも。ただ、最短距離ではなく、わざわざラチャダーピセーク通りをまたぐ連絡路にしたところがいかにもタイらしい（１番出口側ではなく、３番出口から連絡橋を作ったほうがずっと近いと思うのだけれど）。

I wrote a article not recommending to use Makkasan station of Airport link since aconnection to subway (MRT) station (Phetchaburi station) was so bad. However, at the begging of August, a connecting pedestrian bridge has been completed and it became much more convenient than before, even though still we need to walk a little bit. When I visited recently the celebration event was operated with temporally OTOP (one village one product movement) shops and I was impressed by many people came to the station. Since we can make check-in for a flight with check-in baggage at the Makkasan station (at now only for Thai airways), the stationn could be much more popular, particularly for the traffic jam time.
But I cannot understand why the bridge is not the shortest way but over-ridging a wide Ratchada Phisek road. If a bridge had been made from exit No.3, it would be much shorter than actual bridge from exit No.1, I wonder.

　　　　

初音ミク ラッピングon エアポートリンク/ Miku Hatsune painted on Airport link train

バンコク市内とスワナブーム空港を結ぶ高速鉄道エアポートリンクの車体が、札幌生まれのボーカロイド初音ミクで包まれた。先日、市内の高架鉄道（BTS）の車内全面広告を北海道観光振興機が行っていることを記事にしたが、今度は札幌市がスポンサーになって初音ミクバージョンがエアポートリンクに登場した。８月中旬のオープニングセレモニーには札幌市長もバンコクに来たとか。
（車内広告も札幌の宣伝になっているが、写真が悪くてすみません。）
エアポートリンクには旅行会社のHISバージョンもあり、基点パヤタイ駅にはHISのブースも出来ていて、日本への旅立ち気分を盛り上げている。

An airport link train painted by a picture of Miku Hatsune, famous vocaloid born in Sapporo, is running between downtown Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport. I wrote an article of an advertisement in sky-train (BTS) sponsored by Hokkaido Tourism Organization about three week ago. This time is a train of Miku Hatsune sponsored by Sapporo city. Mayor of Sapporo city attended an opening ceremony of this special train at middle of August, I heard. (sorry, only Japanese article)
Besides it, another version of airport link train is illustrated as H.I.S, Japanese travel agency, and travel counter of H.I.S is now operation in Phaya Thai terminal station of airport link, such activity seems effective to encourage Thai people's motivation to visit to Japan.
