金色の山 ワットサケート/ Golden mount; Wat Saket

王宮やエメラルド寺院の東北の小高い人工の丘の上に立つワットサケート。その起源は１５０年以上前のラマ３世の代まで遡るそうだが、２０世紀初頭に立てられた寺院は、１９６０年代まではバンコクで一番高い場所であったそうだ。今は高層ビルが林立するバンコクでは、その高さは色あせているように見えるが、それでも急勾配の階段を登って、緑豊かな約８０ｍの丘の頂上から見る景色は中々のもの。

Wat Saket is standing on artificial small hill located north east from Royal Palace and Wat Phra Kaeo. It has more than 150 year history from era of Rama III dynasty, and the temple built at beginning of 20th century had been the tallest place in Bangkok until 1960's. Now in Bangkok where many sky scrapers are standing, the temple seems less attractive. However scene from top of the about 80m height mountain with rich nature is still very interesting after climbing steep sloops.

リスに餌を与えるおじさん/ a man who feed a squirrel

王宮前広場に通りかかると、竿の先に木の実を差して、木の上のリスに木の実をあげているおじさんに出会った。仕事でやっているのか趣味でやっているのかは判らなかったが、目立つベストを着たおじさんが、竿の先に刺した木の実を持って木に近づくと、リスも判っているらしく、近くまで降りてきて、木の実を貰って枝の上で美味しそうに食べている。バンコクでは、木の枝や電線の上を走っているリスを良く見かけるが、タイ人はリスにあまり関心がないのかと思っていたが、こういうおじさんを見ると、けっこうタイ人もリスが好きなのかもしれない。

I found a man who is feeding nuts with a rod for squirrel at Sanam Luang “ field of Kings”. I could not understand if he was on duty or voluntary but squirrel could distinguish him with eye-catching vest and got down for getting nuts from tip of the rod and enjoyed to eat it. I was thinking Thai people was not so interested in squirrel although I can often see squirrels are running on branches of trees or power lines. However I understand perhaps some Thai people also loves squirrel as well.

乳海攪拌/Samudra manthan or Churning of the Ocean of Milk

バンコクのスワナブーム空港で出国審査を終えて出発ロビーに入ると、ビシュヌ神の乗った亀に巻きついた大蛇を神々と阿修羅が引っ張り合う、ヒンドゥ教の天地創造神話の乳海攪拌の大きな像が目に飛び込んでくる。タイは仏教国であるが、ヒンドゥ教の影響も大きく受けていることがこのことでも分かる。下の写真は朝焼けの空港の景色。

When you enter to departure lobby after immigration control in a Suvarnabhumi Airport, you can find a statue of Samudra manthan or Churning of the Ocean of Milk. The statue of Vishnu in the centre on his turtle Avatar Kurma below surrounded by snake pulled by asuras and devas to left and right is showing story of the Creation of Universe. Thailand is a nation of Buddhist, however I understand this country is very influenced by Hindu also by knowing this statue in the airport. The picture below is beautiful scene airport in morning glow.

深夜の関西空港/ Midnight in Kansai airport

深夜を過ぎた関西空港。フライト時間と現地との時差を考えフライトスケジュールを作るからか、関空発の最終便は00:30発のバンコク行き。２ヶ月前に乗った羽田発01:35発のバンコク行きも羽田の最終便だった。今から楽しい観光に出かける人にとってはあまり気にならないかもしれないが、別れを伴う旅立ちをする人にとっては、売店も閉まり、少しずつ人気がなくっていく空港は、ちょっとつらいものがある。

Kansai airport after midnight. Since flight schedule could be arranged considering flight time and jet lag between destination, last flight from Kansai airport is bound to Bangkok at 00:30. Also from Haneda airport is bound to Bangkok at 01:35. For tourists going to happy holidays might be aware, however, for travelers departing with separation it might be painful to see closed shops and seldom passengers passing by.

大和川/ Yamato river

久しぶりに実家に帰ったついでに、近くの大和川の堤防を散歩してみた。水質は１級河川では全国で最低レベルだが、それでも最近は随分ときれいになったらしい。子供の頃は、あまりきれいではないその川で、よく小鮒釣りをしたものだが、今は水質が改善されて鮒がいなくなったのか、小鮒を釣る子供がいなくなったのか、休日にもかかわらずどこか寂しげ。江戸時代の河川流路付け替えで、大阪の街を洪水から守った代わりに、流れ出す土砂が港を埋めて、自由貿易都市であった堺の没落の原因の一つになったことでも有名。

I enjoyed walking on bank of Yamato river flowing near my home town, Osaka, it was first time more than ten years. Quality of water of the river is one of the most polluted among the first grade rivers; national managed river in Japan. It seems quality of water become much better recently, however I could not find any children enjoyed fishing. When I was child I enjoyed small crucian carp fishing in such dirty liver. I am not sure few crucian carp in the river or few children enjoying fishing, anyway, scene of no children in the river even in holiday made me a little bit sad and feel lonesomeness. The river is also famous for destroying a free trade city Sakai by carrying massive sand to fill up port with artificial flow-way change in Edo era, by which saving Osaka city from continuous flooding.

のぞみの車内/ In the bullet train "Nozomi"

現在、東京から大阪にのぞみにて移動中、スーツケースが大きく、重いので、東京駅で予約の際に一番後ろの席をお願いしたが、結構混んでいて、なかなか見つからず、結局、何本かあとののぞみで、車椅子用のスペースのある席を確保してもらえた。ちょっと時間はかかったけれど、これで周りにあまり迷惑をかけずに大阪まで行けそう。
Now, I am in a bullet train Nozomi from Tokyo to Osaka. At the station, I requested to reserve my seat at the last low of car in order to keep space for big and heavy my suit case.
Although I can not find the seat in the last low, I can find a seat with wide space for a wheal chair in some later train. So I can go to Osaka without making inconvenience to other passengers.

センセープ運河のボート/Boat on Sansab canal

バンコク市内のやや北側を東西に流れるセンセープ運河。チャオプラヤ川のボートほど有名ではないが、渋滞無しにバンコク市内を東西に移動できる貴重な交通手段。
ただし、水質はかなり悪く、汚水とエンジンの混じった臭いを我慢しなければならず、その上狭い運河を進むため、特にボートのすれ違う際の水しぶきにも注意が必要。
タイミングを見てすばやく乗り降りをしなければならず、小さな子供やお年寄りにはあまりお勧めできない。うっかりしていると、アップした動画のように、地元の人でも降り損ねることも・・・

Sansab canal flows east to west in northern part of Bangkok. The boat on the canal is not so popular than same on Chao-praya river, even so it is useful way for moving east to west without traffic jam in the city. However quality of water is remarkably bad, you need to endure in odor of combined smell from polluted water and exhausted gas from engine. Also you need to be careful to splash since the width of canal is narrow, particularly at the time of crossing another boat.
You must get on and off quickly at suitable time, so it is not recommended for small children or elderly people. Sometimes even local people might miss to get of when they lose good timing, you may see movies uploaded.

三輪人力車（サムロー）/ Tricycle; San Lor

タイ語で三輪車の意味のサムロー。交通渋滞の原因になるとしてバンコク市内では乗り入れが禁止されているらしいが、クレット島に向かう道は、ノンタブリー県なので、まだ三輪人力車が走っている。バス停から船着場まで２００～３００ｍ乗って一人１０バーツ。暑い中、おじさんが一所懸命に走ってくれると、ついチップも払いたくなるのが、日本人の優しいところ？バンコク市内のエンジン付三輪車もサムローだが、エンジンの音から、こちらはツゥクツゥクと呼ばれている。

San Lor which means tricycle or three- wheels in Thai language. Now a days, San Lor can not be seen in the city of Bangkok since it could cause traffic jam. But on the way to Ko Kret, we can ride on San Lor because it is in Nontabuli prefecture. The fare to ride on it from bus stop to pier for ferry, it is THB 10 for about 2-300m. When you see driver pedals very hard to carry in hot whether, you might to have a passion to pay a tip to him, it could be gentle mind of Japanese? Motor tricycle called tuk-tuk in Bangkok from its sound of engine.

睡蓮と熱帯魚/ Water lily and tropical fish

以前、やはりバンコクのことを記事にしている方のブログで、この花が、蓮ではなく睡蓮であることを教わった。バンコクでは、建物の前の小さな人口池や歩道の上に甕に水をためこの花を咲かせている。色も白、ピンク、紫と微妙な色の違いを楽しませてくれる。水の中には、日本だと金魚になるところが、こちらの在来（多分）の色々ないわゆる熱帯魚が泳いでいる。熱帯魚の詳しい種類は判らないが、子供の頃、高嶺の花だった熱帯魚が何か普通に泳いでいるのを見るのは少し複雑な気分。

I learned this flower was not Lotus but Water-lilies in an article written by blogger who sometimes uploads articles on incidents in Thai. Water-lilies can be seen very popularly in many places such as small artificially pond in front of building or water pot on the sidewalks. We can find many colors including white, pink and violet and so on. Many tropical fish, it could be gold fish in Japan, are swimming in the water. I wanted to keep tropical fish when I was child but I could not buy since they were so expensive. I have a little bit complicated feeling when I see these fish so commonly.
